| Gerrem Onside! - Super League/NRL 2026 thread 21:10 - Feb 12 with 1434 views | MrSheen | Super League starts tonight in shocking conditions but the 4G spoils the fun, NRL just weeks away. York holding their own for the moment , I used to coach Union with a York fanatic, I hope they can hold their own this season.

The RFL should just say that now and start marketing all those games as do or die four pointers.

Great finish by York. I know Mikey Lewis isn’t as thick as he looks, but was he doing? I knew nothing about York’s team before tonight, I was amazed to see Ben Jones-Bishop about 16 years after I used to watch him at Harlequins. I haven’t followed the London story this year, is Lockyear seriously involved? And have you seen Regan Campbell-Gillard in Tooting Sainsbury’s yet? All I know from the NRL podcasts is that everyone thinks he’s a prick.

Liam Harris, Hull FC boy, got in his head, wound him up, drew the reaction. Fantastic start to the season in a big, crucial year for the sport. Deserves far more attention and coverage.

Yeah hadn't realised it was starting, given all the Sky promos are basically about football and nothing else.

Sky don't give a sht about it. Tonight's game, opening Friday night of the season, is on Sky Sports + so they can show American golf on Main Event. There's rumours they're not even going to bid for the rights when the deal ends at the end of this season which would be fairly catastrophic for the sport in this country.

Could be a great opportunity for the BBC, or do they have no money for that either? Or Channel Four / Five. Or it goes to TNT Sports and disappears even further. Not good.

Three questions for those of you with far better knowledge than me:- 1) Is the Bradford pitch at Odsall(?) still undersize, but allowed by the Super League? 2) My annual question regarding Wakefield Trinity? Is another top six finish a possibility/probability? 3) Do the clubs take the Challenge Cup seriously? I think they do, but I do think that they rest players at times that they wouldn't rest for a Super League fixture. [Post edited 13 Feb 10:25]

1 - Yes, it's a joke, absolute sht tip. I think they have got rid of the stock car racing track though, or are planning to. 2 - A probability. Good team, good recruitment. 3 - Yes. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I think it's more trying to get in with the NRL. NRL Europe could be one escape ladder if Sky are going to dump it.

V’Landys would do it, but the clannish owners exasperate him. It’s like the war in Union, should the game be run from the top as a single business or from the bottom as a competition between warring tribes? Of course if the TV companies walk away, they’re on their own again.

I’m just back from a couple of weeks away with work - good timing! - and been going through this weeks’ NRL games. I’d be prepared to assert that it won’t be the Eels’ year again. Knocked off at half time of the Titans game, and they’ve managed the impossible of getting even worse. Not a great look for the league to have so many walkovers this early.

I would say that the wide margin in the Titans' defeat didn't surprise me but the one suffered by the Eeels did. I expected the Storm to win but not so comprehensively. Had Penrith not squandered a number of scoring opportunities against the Broncos, that could have been a blow-out score and it would have been merited. Penrith have managed to keep all their top roster players for the first time in about 5 years and the pressure is off them this year too. Players like McLean and Talagi will become better players after last year too. Interested to see how the Broncos deal with the pressure that Penrith have handled so admirably for the last 5 seasons.
