How does this work?

You are contracted to a club for a few years, and you can hand in a transfer request?
It doesn't mean that the club have to sell you; they can leave you to rot in the reserves & youth team? And the atmosphere will get smelly. But they are not obliged to sell you.

I also understand that we offered £5million, then £6.5million for Samba, both being rejected. I think that it will take as little as £8million, and as much as £10million before he will be allowed to move. Is he worth £10million to us? If he keeps us up, then yes. But would all supporters & bloggers be happy?

It's not what you've got; it's where you stick it.

I am finally coming to terms with the fact that QPR as a club are about to exceed all previous boundaries where money is concerned.

Before we came up we would have laughed about the potential fees involved for our main targets, but when you consider how much dosh you make simply by staying in the Premier League it doesn't seem so crazy. Money well spent if we stay up.

Been here since 1984. Now THAT is what you call punishment

Any talk of fees over $5m and i still get a nose bleed.

I just can't get my head around it as much as i try.

For gods sake we signed perone only 6 months ago... how things change?!

He is a bargain at 10m, after all we have spent on non achievers, I think he will achieve, but I don't think Blackburn can afford to sell him or anyone else.

If the club decide to sell, they will save money if the player hands in a written transfer request, as he waives money that would ordinarily be owed to him as part of his contract. This can be a sticking point in some transfer deals, with the selling club wanting the buying club to cover this cost, and vice versa.

If a player really wants to move, he can provide a transfer request, waive some of the money he's owed and that can help with negotiations between the parties. That can also help when it comes to payments for signing on fees and agents, where it potentially lessens the outlay for one or both parties.

Of course, the club do not have to sell the player, but keeping an unhappy one on the books may do more long term damage than is worth it. They will end up losing out as well, because the players resale value will dip, if they don't play him, they've still got to pay him, and so on.

They can't afford to keep him either, Barclays won't loan them any more money, they are so desperate they are saying Samba owes them money!!!

I think I'll start another Samba thread, you just can't have enough of them you know.

Is Alex signing today then?

Perhaps an Alex thread as well.

He's already called in 'sick' and missed their last game, they are blatantly going to sell him but want to gte as much as they can and encourage a bidding war.

Still think Spurs will swoop in and sign him though.

Anyone remember Cherno Samba?

Bloody hell time flies. He's the Football Manager equivalent of Tommy Svindal Larsen

All the Samba threads made me remember him.

I would love to see us sign samba and Alex although realistically it will be only alex which I'd still be delighted about.

Also I think Ferdinand is good enough to do a job but if we signed samba we would have 3 quality centre halves. Our downfall could still be injurys because if alex gets injured you have 3 of the worst premier league defenders to cover him in connors, gabbidon and Hall, so both we be superb business or 1 and the man city youngster.

A striker is where the majority of the budget should be spent, so maybe the man city youngster would save us a few quid to spend in our key area.

He's not going to be working with Hughes again though if he goes to Spurs though, is he? That seems to be his main driver. Anyway, isn't 'Arry going to jail soon? He can't be signing players then.

Out of curiosity - did Hughes always play 4-4-2 at his previous clubs or was he pretty flexible?

Anton played left back a number of times for Sunderland, due to Bruce's inability to sign a single specialist left back over 2 entire seasons despite signing 3 million players.

He did a decent enough job there too from what i recall.
