On the train... 22:36 - Aug 22 with 1227 viewsdavman

All very even 'til the first goal, then a capitulation like we haven't seen since, well, last season. The lack of cover out wide, the gaps in the middle and the lack 9f leadership shone through.

Brentford wanted it more and, as a result, we're just better than us.

Second half we came out with the right intent and tempo and if we had put one of those chances away before 70 minutes, the end of the game might have been interesting. But we didn't and it wasn't.

Caulker miles away from the first team on that showing, Manning particularly awful early on, Robinson disappointing to say the least. Yeni offered little to nothing and Sylla didn't do much as he had little or no service.

Furlong improved into the game, Ariel worked hard, but is miles behind Scowen and that was the difference for me from Saturday - we had no-one who looked capable of creating something. Baptiste nowhere near as bad as some will make out, but he appears less comfortable playing from the back than Nedum, which says much. He defended quite well though.

Pretty lame in a derby tbh.

Can we go out yet?
Poll: What would you take for Willock if a bid comes this month?

Know Caulker and Baptiste will get most of the grief but I was very disappointed with both full backs but in particular Robinson. Maybe a match sharpness issue for some of them?

The whole back four were dreadful. The two full backs were found out of position so often it was a joke. Both of them are not defenders, or good enough to be defenders. They look ok going forward but their primary job is to defend.

No goalkeeper, right back going awol, left back tried hard but there it ended, two centre backs never played together, one who is in the shop window and looks to stay there, the other as captain, missing game time and a sadly mistimed tackle to assist the oppo to score, a holding midfielder who needs more games and could do with a decent loan run to get him up to speed, a centre midfield made up of a newbie who showed some decent touches but had no assistance and a lad who appears to think now he has a contract he is too good for this level of opposition and by the way appears her to be carrying his contract into the pitch and sadly the contract is held in a laptop.Wide players huffed and puffed, pat eventually subbed and if he could have stayed in his feet rather than going down at the slightest touch we would not keep getting caught out of position, yeti try's hard, missed an excellent opportunity to make the score 1-2, was harder to miss the target but he achieved that and why oh why he attempted a cross field pass when running clear on the goal beggars belief. Silly had little support and needs to show more up top. Apart from that the starting eleven had enough in them to beat the opposition but sadly did not show up tonight.
