He does seem to have a āplanā and is proactive. I still think too early to tell whether it works or not. We were in a hell of a mess 2 years ago. Not liking someone because heās posh, aināt for me. Iāll judge him based on what he does or doesnāt do. And as said, too early for me. |

Well we were all but down before he turned up. And managed to take a very average squad to safety. That 4-0 vs Leeds was a fantastic night. Will always wish him well. |

After the first yellow, I think I was thinking, make him play the full 90 as we wonāt see him for a couple of weeks. He made an unbelievablely stupid challenge on the halfway line. But I donāt understand with 4 minutes to go why we didnāt do some ādark artsā and seen the game out with 10 men. We had enough experience on the pitch. Couldnāt we pretend to get a head injury to eg Bennie or Kolli, and brought on Edwards? |

Dunne, Cook, Edwards, RND might end up being our best back 4ā¦..and he has to start these 4 for the next 3 games. |

Question now is how do they react to today? Do they sulk and feel sorry for themselves and end up lower mid table? Show them all the footage of Wrexham celebrating like crazy. Show some backbone and react and go on a winning run. Always darkest before the dawnā¦. |

Good point. I missed that. God I need a break from QPR and football after this week. |

100%. It was a stupid stupid challenge. But we were winning with 4 minutes left. I donāt care what you do but you can see that out. Firstly we had Bennie, Kolli and Kone on the field. You have to take 1 of them off and bring on a defender. That is so stupid not to do that. |

12th in league and 3 points off playoffs. Weāve got age of squad down significantly. Huge turnaround from last few years. Weāve not been great recently but when weāve played well, weāve been good. I was annoyed and depressed when got back from Oxford too but got to look at bigger picture. Not sure why everyone is so negative. |

Yeah Varane gets way too much grief. Thereās a reason why Stephan sees him as first choice. |

The injuries didnāt really ākickā in until during game 4 of the last 6 league games. |

Esqerdinha back in training maybe tomorrow or more likely next week according to Dave Mc. |

There did seem to be a lot of pushes in the back of our players when they went up for headers and these were never given. The best chance came from us not being given a blatant free kick. I thought Kone was wrestled to the ground in the box too. |

Iām not sure what the new thread posted today is? But I agree with you on āignoreā. Better to engage and debate rather than ignore. |

Yes agree with what you say. Why I come here to read balanced posts like that. I am a bit of a nightmare after we get beat and need to be more balanced. I was tired last night and made me worse than felt I had to double down! But youāre right. But to answer your question I donāt think itās Marti. I think itās the money spent on the squad, which for me has made the squad significantly better than last season and also how we have gone from Birmingham and Leicester games to what weāve witnessed at West Brom, vs Norwich, then Stoke and finally last night. The difference in performance is huge. |

I have never faulted the effort of this squad. But I am allowed to question what I see on the pitch. I think you are being very generous to say that Oxford were fighting for their livesā¦.they should be but if I was an Oxford fan I wouldāve been fuming at effort and quality from most of their team. You can blame conditions for long balls from back that went wrong but not 5 yard passes on the ground that went into touch or miscontrolling it. Of course we should all be pretty happy with the league position but last night was badā¦..as was Stoke. They had a week off after West Ham. Madsen has played almost every minute and he is performing from ok to good. I think we were good vs West Ham and superb against Leicester but the other games in between have not been good. I really donāt think 2 up front away from home is working. On Bennieā¦.he had 2 chances just like that and was flat footed. Thatās instinct no? Or lack of. |
 | Forum Reply | Injuries at 00:44 21 Jan 2026
Other than Burrell who would have obviously started and is a big miss, that starting eleven is more than good enough. RND doesnāt play 2 games straight so he was always going to be rested. But Mbengue, Dunne, Cook, Madsen, Kone, Smyth, Dembele, Hayden, Walshā¦ā¦.you would find fans who would start these players even if everyone was fit. Injuries are not an excuse for tonights performance. And we can moan about fixture congestion but we didnāt make tactical subs until 75th minute! |

I donāt know why because I like Hayden but we do look a better side with Varane in the team. |
