You do have to rotate as the modern game is just nuts, but playing BOTH Lloyd AND Burrell on Weds seems strange when Kone is so off form and it was fairly obvious how we'd start on Saturday with a half fit off form striker.
I strongly suspect that Kone simply does not fit our style of play, but that does not change the fact that he'd have been much better playing on Weds and giving Lloyd a run on Saturday if Burrell HAD to be rested.
It is an interesting one that little clubs like us and Charlton are examples where Sports Science rules the roost and managers can no longer make decisions on who stays on; they have to listed to the "experts". It is interesting that despite that rotation we still manage to knacker players that were rested - doesn't really scream rotation is protecting them, does it?
Why can Dunne, Edwards, Mbengue and Vale play EVERY game but others can't? Are they super human compared to everyone else, better conditioned or just lucky with how their body is?
...and if rotation is sooooo key, how can Haaland play 52 games last season + the World Cup, Kane can play 65 games for club and country? Even in our league, Vipotnik played 48 games, Bishop 43 games, Tommy Conway 48 games, Cramma and Neghli 48 games, Cooper 47 games, Ayling 46 games? I could go on, the first QPR player to appear on the most appearances in the Championship from last season is Richard Kone in equal 52nd with 43. MBengue is second in 80th with 41 and Jimmy Dunne 3rd in 109th with 39.
Even on average with 24 teams in the league we should have our top 3 in the top 72. Way off.
Why can everyone else seem to do it? Either we buy crocks (strong evidence there), train and condition completely wrong for the players we have, have some issue with the ground they are training on or the pitch they are playing on, are unlucky or are genuinely cursed.
Rotate and we get injuries, don't rotate and we get injuries.
...but play a basically immobile player up top who is clearly carrying an injury against Middlesbrough and guess what happens?
That is not Kone's fault and I am sure that he will get better again, but his form and fitness are just not there yet.
I was much more sanguine about all this than others coming out of the ground on Saturday. I mean, we're parring the course so far surely - beating the teams we expect to beat and not beating the first semi-decent team we come across (although as with every single season, the top teams in this league aren't all that, are they?).
It is early days, but down to Burrell who they apparently can't play each game, Lloyd, who has great energy, but is nowhere near Championship class and the unknown Obikwu. I hope Stephan has a plan to play without a striker unless he can build bridges with Kolli... [Post edited 6 Sep 22:53]

Chair gets injured and the manager decides to put a third winger on the pitch. Any momentum disappeared at that point.
The lamppost up front doing an impression of Richard Kone getting injured forces a positive change and we finally saw some movement up top.
Pray for no more injuries as he HAS to get Lamptey, Madsen and Kamara out there.
Getting schooled somewhat at the moment... |

It might not be communism, but it is simply wrong. If the intent of these restrictions is to "protect" the clubs, then "gifting" the money without restriction threatens nothing.
If the value of each and every contract is given up front, all HAS to be well.
It just re-enforces the view that this is all about stopping upstarts from getting visions of grandeur and daring the challenge the Corrupt Six. |

Those were GOOD corners, especially in the Second Half. Our problem is not the corner taker, it is that we only have one player in the whole team capable of attacking the ball at corners.
But as you say, try something different when we are incapable of winning headers... |

Well, yeah apart fromthe fact that Illy always has moments like that in EVERY match, but would be slated on here if he did that and nothing else each game.
Vale has a talent and has upped his workrate this season, but he is just not aware of his surroundings sometimes and loses the ball in bad positions on occasion.
He was by no means awful yesterday (none of them were) and that chip was class, but personally not in the top 8 performers yesterday.
I do like him though and can see he offers a lot... |

You were probably one of the geniuses that voted Paddy Kenny PotS ahead of Adel that year.
Illy didn't even have a great day today, but came upnwith the goods as per. Still think QPR fans do not deserve him. Before the equaliser, he had a chance to send a ball in where Burrell was in the area surrounded by three Pompey defenders, so looked up and checked.
The groans around us were audible, but his was the right decision as it generally is.

Stupid , ridiculous comment.
Showed for the ball, was the first to chase back, largely kept possession. He was the last person you could blame for today.
Charles, M' Bengue, Kone, Burrell, Poku all well off the pace.
Just wondering whether we should "get rid" of ignorant posters...

Burrell out right needs A LOT of work. He just is not in this game.
Pretty stuff at times, the tannoy system now works, but no shots on target YET.
Madsen won't last 90, so going to be interesting how he sets us up later in the game. |

Bromley was my local non-league club growing up. That they are one division below us now irks massively as does the fact that they are upwardly mobile right now.
Really would be the final kick in my teeth if even they went above QPR in my lifetime...
No real fans there as the vast majority have another club; 2000 weren't supporting then five years ago. Nice to see a non Wrexham rise through the leagues, but hopefully they will settle back down soon...  |

Yeah it is a great piece in a strong statement, but let's face it, UEFA has extended their competitions over the years not for the good of the game (wnose qualiry is threatened the more you make the players play), but for cash.
Like our "beloved" FA who sold our game to the Premier League and its big 6, they remain because those big clubs let them.
Is it just me who feels slightly uncomfortable supporting those terrible organisations in all of this even if FIFA is 100% wrong here? |
