1 Go see this team, finances and time allowing. It's one of those QPR teams that comes round every five+ years. Like that QPR of Eze, Chair, BOS, Manning before Covid. Not once did I think we would lose yesterday, even when they scored. You can actually believe in this lot. Weird.
2. That said, we cannot lose Jimmy Dunne. Every other player is covered. So, I think above all we need that Steve Cook of 2023 to come in, a veteran who can slot for 20+ games seamlessly as required, someone who can run the show as JD did. Let's not break Jimmy.
3. The pints at Ewood: why can they serve freshly poured Moretti in front of you in seconds, tasting as a pint of lager in a pub should, but QPR can only top up flat pints served hours before? Interestingly, I found out it's the same catering firm as Millwall, who also manage this sorcery. Would love to know more about the 'tendering' at QPR...
4. 12k fans in a stadium built for 32k really gives off the atmosphere of an exhibition match in North America. It was desolate. Be careful for what you wish for in the "ground's not big enough" stakes, when historically your fanbase is 12-15k.
5. We have made some very good signings in all the weakest areas. Recruitment deserves a night on the smash when the window closes.
6. Those full backs. Good god, if they stay fit, they are what we've needed since going down a decade ago, maybe even would've prevented that relegation. Please stay fit.
7. Worth remembering that Stoke were second, Leicester fourth and Preston fifth going into the last international break, so who know what the winter brings...

Also...fitness is noticeably good. Blackburn couldn't keep up after 70 minutes, they're still building up but we are there already with the players who did a preseason. It's impressive.
It's another tick for Nourry and his team, have to say. In every aspect that fans noted needed to improve on the playing side last term, they have met that issue and done impressive work to correct. Fair play, credit where it's due. | | | |
