Does anoyone know anything about the small handheld video recorders?

I know we've a few camera buffs on here. Any recommendations, good sites etc? Angling towards a sony handycam. Any advices / recommendations would be appreciated.

Not an expert but interested in getting similar myself for forthcoming trip to Skomer. I recently watched a bird enthusiast using something very similar to the one in the attached link, with camera mounted on a tripod. She waxed lyrical about it, (plus the deal she got from Jessops) and showed me many of the features and I was amazed at the zoom and other software facilities.
