What a brawl that was, I would say I remember it well, but I don't. Also Howard Cosell the voice of sports for me in the 60's and 70's. RIP George and here's hoping that your grill is never void of AAA beef.
I got hold of a Coors beer a while back and it got me thinking about my early years drinking habits. The drinking age in PA. was 21 so we had to rely on older friends or smuggling trips under cover of night into West Virginia. Being from Pittsburgh my first beers were Iron City, Rolling rock, Pabst and Coors when I could get hold of it, Coors wasn't sold east of the Mississippi in my day. Gnats pi$$, all of 'em. After moving to London a friend of mine told me that with American beers you went straight from drinking to hang over without the fun bit in the middle, very true. The summer after my high school graduation I hung around with a more sophisticated group, we drank cheap crap soda pop wine. Boones farm, TJ Swann, Ripple, Bali Hai and if we really wanted to get wasted we'd break out the Thunderbird. Ah to be 18 again.
I lived in Acton for a while. Does anyone remember the builders yard on horn lane called Teevans (maybe it's stll there). Used to be know as 'tree quid Teevans' because just about everything you hired cost 3 quid per day. This was back in the early 80's mind. Edit - they are still there!! Just found thier website. A lot more professional now. Good for them.
Brave man Colin. If we played well in our last four games but just couldn't manage to find the win then I would say today's game will be a cracker and we'll come out on top. But we didn't and we won't. Sorry to say I think we will loose by at least 3. Edit - I really hope I'm wrong.
.. To start the Leeds match thread, I think he has the best win record with a fairly impressive run of games. Come on man hop on your chopper and ride over here, we need you.
Apparently playing in our black kit today, so that has to be good for at least 2 goals. So we will hang on for a 1-2 win with a sphincter tightening last 15 mins.
