You know how some (generally successful) clubs have images of their trophy wins built into the top of their stands? We could have the pledges on our stands. They would be our absolute raison d'etre. If we had ever issued them.... |

I don’t think we are ever going to get anywhere near agreeing on this. It was sporadically good last season, but then so it should given how the team were doing. This season however, nowhere near good enough. As with the team. |

Whilst I have been pretty critical of our home support this season, I think I am right in saying we have sold out every away game in the League this season. Given the tripe served up on the pitch, I think that is pretty impressive, certainly better than nearly half the teams in the Prem. I think that this bodes well for next season. If people are still prepared to watch us when we face batterings, our away support should be very good next season. |

Of Goztepe........ I dare say we won't be blessed with similar. The man is the very definition of incompetence, and we will not progress as a club until he is got rid of.

We hold so few of the cards in this situation. If we keep him, he will be concerned about getting injured and risking missing out on the biggest pay-day of his career. I don't begrudge him his move. He has been excellent since we signed him, one of the last few truly decent signings we have made who has been pretty much a solid 7 out of 10 ever since he first played for us. |

Aye. We made ourselves a team you would love to play against. You have to at least make the opposition work hard to beat you, and in fairness Leicester and Ipswich have done that, and have given their fans moments to celebrate. I'm sure last night will live long in the memory of Ipswich fans. We have had none of that. |

On reflection, I suspect that if we had lost at Wembley, we would now be somewhere around the top 6 of the Championship. And we would still have Russell Martin. I wonder whether most people would have preferred that. My suspicion is probably not, given how big a failure we now know Martin was in the Prem. |

Guess it's fair to describe it as a year of two halves...... Highs:- West Brom away (League) Huddersfield home (what a game that was) Birmingham away West Brom home (play-offs - proper noise that night and celebrations across the City long into the night) Leeds at Wembley Lows:- Ipswich away last season Leicester away last season Stoke home Moving from the Itchen North (I really loved it in there) Pretty much every game in the Prem I guess it's certainly not been dull, and I suspect 2025 won't be either. Though a big part of me thinks of the Leeds play-off final as a "Sliding Doors" moment, and wonders quite how different the last 5 months would have been if Daniel James hadn't hit the bar at the end of that game. Happy New Year to fellow Ugly comrades. |
| Forum Thread | Nucleus of a fairly strong Championship side next season at 13:30 30 Dec 2024
McCarthy Bree Wood Edwards Charlie Taylor Downes Aribo Smallbone Fraser Archer Armstrong That's a starting 11 of players I don't see getting moves to a Prem club in the summer, possible question mark on Downes maybe. With the likes of Fraser, Amo-Ameyaw and dare I say Stephens also there to add options from the bench. You could see Archer and Armstrong each getting 20-odd goals in the Championship next season. A few decent signings to give us more depth, and it should be a decent season. |

This is so true. Joe Shields came to us highly-rated, but Lavia apart, he just signed a load of duds from Man. City. Jason Wilcox was a big improvement, and we will never know exactly how big a loss it was when he left. It looks a massive loss to me though. |
