Field to Norwich

Judging them just on Saturday, Coventry could be included in that bracket as well.

He got kicked in the face against Wrexham if memory serves. Got treatment and was straight back on.

Field to Norwich
at 08:10 3 Feb 2026

Sam is a very good defensive player, stays fit and is one of the experienced players we need in the team. That he's played 19 games for us already this season indicates we may miss his availability if and when the likes of Hayden, RND, Cooke and Dunne cannot play during the rest of the season. Hope he gets the on pitch time he wants the rest of the season, and he is available to play for us next if we need him more which is possible. Otherwise he should command a decent fee it as it seems other Championship Clubs are interested in him, Norwich, Derby and Charlton all are apparently.

WLS reporting Derby came in with a late offer to buy Field, but with him already on the way to Norwich he's chosen to go there.

I'm more concerned about losing Field's ability to cover for RND at LB, and for Cook and Dunne at CB

I guess employer social security (NHI) and any other employee benefit costs is included in employee cost along with actual salary/wage costs and bonuses, which may account for much of the difference between perceived salary expectations and total reported personel costs.

Think that was his best game for us to date by a long way. Finally completed 90 minutes with mostly good passing and involved in the goals. As others have said he looks best in attacking, central midfield.

Struggle to understand why he doesn't use Saito as the sub for Dembele. Play him left side, Smyth right. But he uses Bennie.

Because I remember Edwards having his worse game for us when he played RB, I'm hoping he's at CB and Dunne at RB.

On Madsen!!! I thought his technical skills, quick, accurate, defence opening passing, pens, dead balls, all together with his physical attributes long legs and hight, made him look a potential top CM at this level from his first games for us last season. Luton for example. Great to see him come on as he has the last month of last season and this. MOM again yesterday for me.

Yes, and he's also very quick which which makes it more difficult to stop on a slippery surface. I thought he tried to pull out of both challenges, barely made contact on the 2nd and getting that 2nd yellow looked harsh.too me.

Yes, spot on re Madsen's block. I mentioned the same on the Madsen thread. He with Walsh and Dunne were our best players at Oxford for me. Dembele was good during the earlier part of the game especially as somebody has already said in central positions, rather than wide on the right. Perhaps he is the one who should be playing 10 when we get some quick wide players back from rehab.

Madsen
at 14:31 22 Jan 2026

For me what Madsen has considerably improved on since last season is his defensive work. Clearing, blocking, tackling and intercepting the ball with his long legs, and his reading of the game. He is also winning numerous balls in midfield and some in defence with his head. At Oxford for example he won many loose balls in midfield with his head and got back to block an Oxford player as he was trying to pull the trigger in our penalty area. His forward passing and vision remains excellent now in a deeper position than where he was playing at the end of last season when he was in a better position to assist and score goals. I'd like him to get forward and shoot more again as he has it in him.

We are interested in Ghanaian striker 21 year oldJalal Abdullai from Elfsborg. He has just returned from a loan at Molde where he scored 9 goals in 24 games according to gossip on BBC and other media outlets. Swansea, Preston and others supposedly interested.

Agree with this and I should add that the wind was so bad it blew a still ball away at set pieces and balls kicked with the wind were often blown much further than intended. Tyler and Andy were only half joking about potential damage to their cars parked behind the goal. Any better skill sets our players had were reduced by this..
