Incompetent refereeing or.........???
at 21:58 12 Feb 2019

Agree Brian. Whether the ref had the hump or not or whether City had lots of pressure, this was NOT a foul in the area. Or if it was it was against Furlong. If we continue beating ourselves up about how we should have done then we ignore an official's blatant incompetence.

Genuinely sad that the UK has painted itself into a "No Deal" corner - please God Not but that the vote, which was advisory, has now become a sacrosanct neo-religious absolute truth along the lines of " The people have spoken". What pathetic and genuinely dangerously crass nonsense peddled by certain areas of the media! The concept that an electorate is dis-empowered from changing its mind is completely against all elements of parliamentary democracy. How many votes did it take for the Swiss to recognise they'd got it wrong about female enfranchisement? Electorates develop. They don't remain static. What we are viewing is the triumph of the chancers who have little idea about the harm a no deal-exit will cause. The mantra of "project fear" is convenient for the likes of Rees-Mogg, Johnson and Gove who will make an enormous financial killing from the collapse of the UK currency. Meanwhile the "Mail" and "Sun" -reading population is deceived into believing that a blue passport `will ensure the return of the good times. Cheap and nasty patriotism invoking Agincourt, Waterloo and the 1966 World Cup are simple means of conning the victims of austerity that a return to these times will solve years of failure to invest in massive areas of the country. Sometimes when you stand at the edge of a cliff, you need to ignore the advice of the nutter behind you to jump - cos it can't get any worse, can it?

A bit rich coming from them.

To be fair, the Portsmouth conglomerate (Crew, Firm, Bunch, sweepings) do support the only side in the U K to play their games off the mainland. Our dubious friend may have been overwhelmed by the fumes of guano, the lack of ozone and disorientated by the rare experience of visiting a strange country. The phrase "Just putting it out there" is obviously a reference to Ben's girlfriend who resembles a feline creature. I am glad to be one of the worst fan base in the illustrious Benjamin's eyes. He honours us!

PC world gone mad (again!)

Interesting that this P C development originates from little Lewes - famed for the even-handedness connected with the celebration of anti-Catholic persecution on Guy Fawkes Night. If a gang of the Wee Free burned effigies of the Pope then, quite rightly, there would be outrage but because a crowd of affluent Sussex citizens find it inspiring and patriotic. it becomes acceptable. I suggest the good burghers of Sussex, male and female, get their own backyard in order before pontificating on injustice.

Timewasting and sh1thousery
at 13:00 16 Dec 2018

Time-wasting is regrettable and wrecks the spirit of the game but if it frustrates the likes of the obnoxious Flint who attempted to ref the game from the first minute and the sheer bloodyminded unpleasantness of any Pulis team then I, like Mr Hendrix am 100% for it. I'd love to watch 90 minutes of blinding football played with sportsmanship and skill but that, sadly, wins few points in a cynical football world.

One negative - and it is management's fault! Why did we take so long to get anyone on the pitch when it was clear that Lynch was struggling. Conceding a goal, as we did, with ten men on the pitch is Mclaren's blunder. Not having a further defender stripped and ready to get out and defend a set-piece could have cost us disastrously against an awful Boro side. The immediate aftermath of the goal saw our most vulnerable time in the game. Great spirit to come back from that but this really was a daft error.

Received angry e-mail from Fulham associate "Re Conifa update I am livid that scurrilous QPR supporters are labelling our fans as "Tristrams". This is taking abuse too far when everyone knows we are TARQUINS!

Indeed - the shock of the new little'un has driven him over the edge. Has always tended to live in a fantasy world - imagine believing that his goal versus Germany should have been given!

Fat Frank Lampard
at 00:34 7 Oct 2018

Fat Frank has become even more delusional since becoming a father. He has produced a side in the mode of himself on a bad day. They moan, they cheat, they expect every tackle to result in a yellow or red card against the opposition. Derby fans, like FF Lampard have a deranged sense of "entitlement" which has been misplaced since the glory days of Clough. Nice town but, despite the huge investment, little better than an average Championship side. It makes I laugh to hear or read comments from Lampoon justifying his forthcoming descent into the lower echelons. They were ordinary today and we were considerably better. I have little love for Mclaren but he outwitted Lampoon and his side outplayed his team. It becomes even more hilarious to hear a manager whose side have been favoured outrageously by an incompetent referee giving some scandalous decisions, mostly against QPR bemoaning a marginal decision which he claims cost Derby the game.

We've Signed Geoff Cameron
at 23:17 30 Aug 2018

Style of play

Cameron (center) at the announcement of the 20 for 20 campaign in 2011.
A versatile player who is currently featured as center back but can also play as a right back, right winger, defensive midfielder, or attacking midfielder. Cameron has become known for his combination of aerial ability, passing ability, strength, athleticism, man marking and composure on the ball.[38] Former United States international Alexi Lalas believes that Cameron has the ability to succeed in English soccer.

"Geoff has the mentality and all the skill-sets to succeed . . . Stoke and England are getting a quality player that they can be excited to see. He's good with the ball, he reads the game well and he's not going to lose possession of the ball while under pressure. If you're playing with Geoff Cameron, be prepared to play with the ball. He has the physical attributes to bang when he needs to but he also has a real confidence in the way he handles the ball and the way he passes out of the back."

Well - sounds good - never seen him play - any reports would be welcome

Combat 18 - Lansdowne Road 1995? Chelsea Headhunters, numerous other "firms" are far from fictional. Just because the swastikas are not waved openly in football grounds does not preclude a number of odious beliefs which transcend sport. The rise of the alt-right is linked to all sorts of theories - some of them akin to fascism - islamophobia, xenophobia and a sympathy for the white supremacism underpinning Trump's election and self-justification. Whilst some of these views may be linked to embryo National Socialism, the catch-all accusation of fascism is often inaccurate and misplaced. Polarisation of opinion in the Western democracies inevitably leads the right to stir nationalistic feelings and the left to feel uneasy at what it sees as a reversion to extremes of race-hatred. Sport and politics are inevitably mixed, the option to support a team is a decision, so is your choice of partner and your political allegiance. At times the "virtue signalling" may seem tiresome and self-satisfied but turning one's back on that which is against your system of beliefs is wilful ignorance.
