From the little I've seen of him, I do think he's got something. He's been on the first team bench a few times so Stephan must feel similarly. |

It's not a tactic many teams employ so it will cause a degree of uncertainty in the opposition. I was pleased to see it employed yesterday and hope we keep doing it. |

It would depend on the formation. If we revert back to 442 I can see Vale dropped to the bench but in a 4231 he's arguably the best option in the middle of the 3. |

I will be in the minority here but although I like him his injury history - serious hamstring and groin problems - and that he can't play '3 game weeks' means a no to signing him in the summer. We cannot keep bringing in injury prone players. |

Yep, I get that but I don't think Burrell would have to be all that far off Kone, just a bit behind him and not central. I think Burrell would still have the pace to get in behind a defence in that arrangement. |

Smyth signed a new contract a month ago so we have him for the foreseeable. And, with Dembele now out for a while, he's very likely to continue to start until Chair and/or Poku return. Then I think we'll see him play off the bench, which is where he's best used, and that includes his ability to get free kicks, legitimate or not. |

By 'second striker' I don't necessarily mean Burrell should be on the bench but, when we're playing 442, he should be behind Kone instead of in front as he has been positioned before he got injured. That would enable Kone to be the focal and lead point of attack, which is where he plays best. |

I'm another who is impressed with Vale. Technically very good and an intelligent player who understands the game a little differently from others. What he lacks in pace, he makes up for in skill. And as others have pointed out, he will only get better as he gets games under his belt. |

Kone is showing what he can do when playing as a traditional no 9. Stephan must play Burrell as the second striker when he returns. |

Indeed. Having had several serious hamstring and groin injuries it would be reasonable to assume he will suffer similar issues in the future. He's no more than a steady eddie and I think we should wave him goodbye and good luck at the end of the season. |

I think that's a valid point but in this case, the DS already has two LBs, Leahy and Adjetey-Brew, so there's no need to bring in Pullella to make up the numbers. |

Yes, but don't forget the value of Australian eggs' versatility. |
