Cifuentes' attacking strategy
at 07:29 29 Feb 2024

I've just come across this excellent analysis of the two goals v Rotherham showing how Cifuentes is coaching QPR in attack.

Ken Paal
at 08:52 9 Feb 2024

Paal is a bit of an unsung hero. Granted he's not great at set pieces but neither is Chair. Paal's season rating on say WhoScored.com, is only just below Chair's suggesting he's been our second most consistent player. And, he's weighed in with more than his fair share of goals, including that one v Huddersfield.

I reckon our dutchie on the left hand side deserves a bit more recognition. Well done Ken. Keep it going.

A nice Cifuentes interview
at 10:55 22 Dec 2023

He's a very interesting guy with a bit of a different approach to the game. I like that he started coaching at a young age and has gone through some tough times. I'm glad we've got him.

I don't usually like this stuff but...

Let's have a song you love from a music genre you don't.

As a young 'un I listened to this classic by the velvet fog, Mel Torme, over and over again. Heard it again recently and it still does it for me even though I don't usually go for crooner type stuff. Love the organ solo.

Chair not in Morocco squad
at 20:01 14 Nov 2023

I see Chair is not in the Morocco squad for this November's internationals. That's good news for us as Cifuentes gets two weeks to work with him.

Dykes, Smyth, Kakay, Armstrong and others, including Kolli for Algeria U21s, have received call ups: https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/2023/november/14/international-r-s-nine-r-s-could-fea

We're only just into the new season and I've already had enough with the new 'time wasting' rules, and not only because the budgies scored in the 9th minute of extra time. This puts it perfectly...

What about the budgies?
at 08:20 14 Aug 2023

What is Ainsworth going to do on Wednesday night? There's plenty to mull over such as player fitness and Saturday's upcoming game, but he'll want to keep the positivity going for the first home game of the season, even if it is an early dead water buffalo match.

It would be great to field the same team as we saw on Saturday but are they all fit enough to play again 3 days later in an arguably more important match? I think they should be but still, I suspect we'll see a few benched. Which players come in is the conundrum.

Someone said Norwich can field a strong 2nd team. Is that right?

What is a football club?
at 20:39 1 Jul 2023

This is a thought provoking article by one of the best football journalists in the UK: Football clubs were born to represent communities and fans, not owners by Jonathan Wilson https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2023/jul/01/football-clubs-communities

QPR is owned by businessmen from Malaysia, America and India. They have made terrible mistakes but also keep the club afloat. And, of course, they've provided much of the funding for the new training ground. So maybe they really are the good guys, but I'd love to know exactly what they're getting out of it.

Formation for the new season
at 18:21 30 Jun 2023

After Ainsworth's 442 last season, I've been wondering what formation he'll adopt for 23/24. Might it be significant that he's spoken about his first 2 new signings as wide players who'll get crosses in and that he's pulled out the stops to keep Dykes? I think so.

So what will it be? 451 perhaps? Or 4141? Maybe even 352 if we can find enough CBs. To use 442 again would feel like last season's dreary tactics would continue.
