Love that type of film and hate the painting by numbers films where they do the thinking for you, reason why I couldn’t stand Conclave despite the good acting.

Really pleased to see Anora rightfully clean up at the Oscars and Keiran Culkin getting best supporting actor. Best two films by far.
Thought that tick box pile of shite Conclave would appeal to the luvvies but apparently not.

Exactly. He was very good at the role he’s been told to play.
Most of the time there was no one moving ahead looking for a forward pass. Morgan had a stinker, the Korean lad not much better and to try and cut back in when two Sheffield had blocked his path gifted a crossing opportunity and goal they should never have had. Changed the entire game as they are very good at sitting back and passing opportunities disappeared.
To pick on Varane is bizarre when there’s four midfielders ahead of him who created next to nothing. |

Indeed. Up where we sit most thought we only got that penalty as Smyth and the crowd appealed so loud.
Ludicrous to blame the ref, think they’re getting sick to death of featherweight footballers tumbling about at every even half hearted challenge. |

We do our best but against decent sides it’s not quite good enough.
Wasn’t a lot in it, but when it mattered they just did everything quicker. We seem to be regressing back to our early season default mode of two touch football. |

It was an ambush, it was bullying, but I think we’re missing the point here.
Zelensky is a proud man, the Ukrainians are a proud and brave people, you cannot fault their resolve in all of this but, as Trump says, they cannot win without US support and for too long now European countries attitude to defending themselves has been absolutely shameful.
Truth is, Britain is the only Western European place that is, albeit reluctantly, finally showing a minor commitment to increase its GDP spend on defence. France are showing some willing but history says that won’t amount to much, Italy just laugh in your face and Spain reluctant to play any part. The Germans have lost the will to commit to anything.
Trump knows, as soon as he commits to being a backstop, Western Europe and indeed Starmers fine words on increasing defence will once again be just that, words, and they’ll collectively go back to doing nothing and relying on the Americans. This has to change.
The West has become weak, it will capitulate to anything. Sadly, we need someone to bang our heads together. That time has come.
Have to be careful what you say these days, but a strong US in some form of power pact with other super powers may be the only way to preserve the lifestyle in Western Europe for our grandchildren that my generation has taken for granted. |

Are there any decent eating and drinking pubs in Shepherd’s Bush these days?
Adelaide has gone downhill on the eating side of things since Covid, was a good pub for both prior to that.
Broadcaster foods reasonable but bit of a non pub given its small choice of beer, even witnessed a single file queue at the bar there, which is an absolute no-no.
A number of decent drinking pubs admittedly but a decent combo getting harder to find. |

Seeing as they’re all registered in America, government would be barking at the moon if they think they can change that situation.

Bow to your superior knowledge, you’re absolutely right, my Dad never drove below 70mph over the westway, now it’s a 30mph limit to stop it shaking itself to the floor.
Quite how successive governments have been allowed to view our infrastructure at such a low level of importance is a scandal. |

Surely it would have been easier to knock down the existing bridge and build a new one.
The Ukrainians knocked down a bridge when they thought the Russians were coming end of 2022, they’ve built a new one inside two years and that’s with rockets flying all around them.
This country is so shit at doing anything now it’s actually frightening. |

Think we can be a bit like Corporal Jones Fuzzi Wuzzi’s.
Appreciate it could unsettle us all round but wonder if we should set up for away games without the three behind the solitary forward. It works at home but seems to put us on the back foot away.
Could see us having a home side not unlike what we have at present but an away side with 4-5 different personnel and a set up with only 3 outfield playing in same position home and away.
We have a number of horses for courses players in this squad. |

Not won away against anyone above 20th. Only 2 home wins against anyone in the top ten.
Probably pushed ourselves to the highest position possible with this squad, it’s a reasonable achievement to be as much as 14 points above the bottom three. |
