Robbers or fools

Are there any restrictions on pouring a can of peroni into an empty lucozade bottle and bringing it in with you? Would have thought you’d be fine provided it’s got a bottle top that doesn’t detach.

Either way, there needs to be a no more Carlsberg campaign, warm or otherwise.

Amazed how many crumbled when they got above Rory. Poor old Rose took a two shot lead but visibly fell apart as he questioned caddies club selection at the tenth, felt for him as all those second places sat on his shoulders.

Am beginning to feel quite excited about our chances next season
at 18:39 12 Apr 2026

Full backs are decent defenders but going forward their crossing isn’t good. Smyth/RND was painfully predictable.

Weve got enough defenders who could play three across the back, Chair and Vale could be the width in a five man midfield, indeed Vale could play in a centre midfield three alongside Morgan and one other and we’ve got three/four forwards who could interchange in a two man forward line.

In that set up Madsen may not be so essential if we were to sell him this summer, likewise Varane and then concentrate on bringing in a suitable midfielder (and keeper) with any income from such transfers.

We have enough wide players who we won’t be able to sell for much but from the bench they would be useful during games where we need to mix it up.

Love the Masters.

Early days but reassuring that the LIV entrants are having a bad time of it.

You’re a good writer, maybe the Spectator needs an alternative look at the world of football?

By chance, was having a chat with a theosopher this afternoon, largely about the rise of generations who have zero tolerance of those with differing views and the mortal dangers this presents to society.

As you were.

So true...

Reassuring in many ways.

I’d like to see the eight teams from 9th to 16th taken to Ibiza for the summer to play out a mid table champions cup. We need something to look forward to.

Next season’s central midfield two.

This is the crux of the problem.

This box to box CM doesn’t exist in the Championship, they play in the Prem or if they don’t you’ve got at best a season to get something out of them before they go to the Prem. It’d be a miracle to get your hands on one.

I like Morgan, he should be a regular, but the PNE goal, where the fella covered half the pitch with no Rangers midfielder within 20 yards of him tells the story of why our very decent defence concedes so many goals.

Varane I have an issue with, as alluded to above, he’s a player who does his best work in dead rubbers. It’s all very well shining at Sunderland and PNE with the sun on your back and nothing for the oppo to play for but sideways and backwards is a hindrance when it matters.

We’ve got some good players but an obsession with a formation that exposes their weaknesses.

Can’t help think we’ll have to try three at the back at some point, get the best out of what we’ve got in front of them.

We’ve three good forwards, maybe four, all of which could interchange as a two man front line. Vale and Chair would be key to this and would allow us to have a three man CM that is adjustable against varied opposition. Chances are Hayden and Field will move on so it’s still essential we get one maybe two new CM’s in. I’d have the likes of Poku, Dembele on the bench to fill in if Chair or Vale unavailable and in a 3-5-2 they’re relative frailty will be less of a liability with three playing CM.

Saito - What Has Happened?
at 21:08 4 Apr 2026

If Saito and Esquerdinha are first teamers in any form we can forget about play offs again next season.

Club has to get ruthless, that side of the pitch is a mess. If RND moves on or Chair is incapacitated we’ll struggle. Need a stand in for Chair and a LB that can cover or fill in for RND. No more stand ins who can’t handle the physicality of the game.

Surely, after eleven consecutive years, there must be some form of dispensation that says you don’t have to play Preston any more.

Doesn’t really work for 1 and 3 syllable first names.

2 syllable, Terry Venables blue and white army, then you’re talking.

Christian Nourry? I’ll get my coat.

As a rule, be cautious about sides who put their best football together in the last 10 games of a season.

We’re ok but let’s not get carried away.

Italy missing 3 World Cups in a row
at 08:55 1 Apr 2026

Apparently some of their best young Italian players are in Serie B as Serie A is filled up with imports.

International football bit of a sideshow and largely unwatchable anyway.
