Question for Lee Hoos
at 11:41 13 Dec 2019

Last season I asked Lee Hoos where we were budgeted to finish

I've just asked in the next round of questions

How many people subscribe to listen or watch the QPR games around the world and how much revenue they bring in (probably not much as only a fiver a game)

I guess 500 people subscribe - which would generate revenue of around 2.5k per game

What do you think?

Paul Morrissey at the club said Lee will answer this in the next update.

If you have any questions for Lee you can send them into
qprbusiness@qpr.co.uk

Cheers

Forest game is it live for overseas supporters?
at 11:02 26 Nov 2019

I can't see it being live on QPR's website (due to the game being on sky)
However a Forest fan at work has paid to watch the game on ifollow (Football League website)

https://www.efl.com/iFollow/

EDIT - Yes I can see the game can now be watched via our website - apologies for the message - happy for it to be deleted Clive. Thanks, James

What changes would you make to our squad in January?
at 11:26 15 Nov 2019

The January transfer window is generally not the best time to do business
However if you had the opportunity what changes would you make to our squad in January?
Obviously this would have to be based on what we know at the moment.

I would try and get Smithies back in goal and move on either Kelly or Lumley

I'd look at a quality centre half who can defend and pass out well and offload one - probably Grant Hall

Also look at one central midfielder who can link play and not be dominated like we have been recently.
Would offload Matt Smith back to Man City

Upfront no changes.

What would you do?

Cheers,

James

What would your team be against Leeds?
at 00:04 30 Oct 2019

I'm not sure but was thinking

keeping Kelly in goal - although my confidence in both our goalkeepers is not high

3 central defenders
BFG / Hall
Cameron
Wallace

2 wing backs
Rangel / Kane
Manning

1 defensive midfielder
Ball / Scowen

2 other midfielders
Chair
BOS / Amos / Scowen / Pugh

1 attacking midfielder
Eze

1 centre forward
Hugill / Wells

The first name I have listed is the player I would most likely select for that role

Probably play 3 centre halfs and 2 wing backs as I don't believe playing 4 at the back has been working for us in recent games as we have lost most of our attacking intent and still concede soft goals

What do you think?

Mainly focusing on Stoke in their game against us - with a summary of the game and a brief paragraph on QPR

https://www.racingpost.com/sport/team-in-focus/team-in-focus-stoke-city-strength

Sky Bet Championship
Stoke 1 QPR 2
Clucas 78 Hugill 8,
Eze 53

Stoke City v QPR match report
This was not a great encounter with three of the four shots on target ending in goals as Stoke's Sky Bet Championship campaign got off to the worst possible start.

QPR debutant Jordan Hugill was gifted Rangers' opener following a mistake by Jack Butland before Ebere Eze's wonderful body swerve helped him to put the finishing touch on a brilliant team goal to double the advantage.

Stoke pushed late on after Sam Clucas got them back into the game and Danny Batth should have punished a late error from QPR keeper Joe Lumley but headed wide of an open goal.

A draw would have been the fairest result.

Stoke City's tactics
Nathan Jones set Stoke up in a diamond formation but none of the players seemed to be in the right positions.

Former Rangers midfielder Jordan Cousins was uncomfortable at the base of the diamond, a position which may have suited the passing ability of Joe Allen. He had been stuck on the left and the left-footed Clucas was on the right.

Stoke City's strengths
When Stoke moved to a flat 4-4-2 or 4-2-4 they looked far more comfortable with Allen dictating play centrally and substitute Tom Ince giving width high on the right.

Fellow sub Lee Gregory offered more energy in his 22-minute cameo than starting strikers Sam Vokes and Benik Afobe.

Stoke City's weaknesses
Vokes had 17 touches and Afobe 18, so Stoke never got the service up to their front players, although playmaker Nick Powell was not helped by a total lack of movement from the forwards.

The diamond formation worked wonders for Jones at Luton, but it looks a lot rougher at the bet365 Stadium and their possession play was too slow in midfield.

Stoke City's goalscorer bets
If Jones can take any positives they came in the final 20 minutes with the introduction of Gregory and Ince.

Both looked lively and could well make an impact if given the chance to shine from the start. Gregory must surely come in for Afobe, who was jeered off the pitch after his latest lethargic performance.

Stoke City's view from the manager
Jones said: "We played with no real tempo. We didn't look like a home side that wanted to go after the opposition. In the last 30 minutes when we changed the shape I thought we were excellent and should have got something out of the game."

Stoke City's prospects
Jones said he had one aim for Stoke this season and that was promotion, however, City looked a long way off that kind of form in this defeat.

It's only one game and it would be unfair to make rash judgements so early in the season but Stoke have won just three league matches since Christmas and there is a clear nervousness about the place which makes for uncomfortable viewing.

On this basis it does not look as if Stoke have improved since last season's 16th-place finish, leaving Jones with plenty to ponder.

How did QPR play?
New Hoops boss Mark Warburton went with a 4-2-3-1 formation and, boosted by the early goal, they were able to take the sting out of the match. They looked better than potential relegation candidates.

Luke Amos is tidy in midfield alongside the robust Geoff Cameron and Eze's easy-on-the-eye performance was the latest indication that he could eventually move up to the Premier League.

Teams
Stoke 4-1-2-1-2: Butland; Smith, Collins, Batth, McClean; Cousins; Clucas, Allen; Powell (Gregory 68); Afobe (Ince 71), Vokes (Campbell 68).

QPR 4-2-3-1: Lumley; Rangel, Hall, Barbet, Manning; Cameron, Amos (Pugh 68); Osayi-Samuel (Shodipo 72), Scowen, Eze; Hugill (Leistner 81).

Queens Park Strangers

Reminds me of when Mark Hughes was here and we know how that ended

Does anyone have a squad list? as it stands - looks like Toni and Luongo leaving too
We look light weight and likely to do an Ipswich (I hope I am wrong and we do well of course)

Clearly Warburton did not like the squad he inherited and is under enormous pressure to reduce costs due to the mess we are in.

With the crap player management (paying too much for donkeys and selling too low) we have had over the past 5 years can someone remind me why we need a DoF.
He does not have any strategy or a scooby doo having blown at least 70m of parachute payments

Adel
at 17:58 13 Jul 2019

I’ve noticed my favourite you tube video of Adel being too good for the scum in 2013 has been blocked due to premier league copyright
Does anyone know where I can get this video or my fix of Adel at his best?
This video was the perfect pick me up.

I have noticed as a QPR supporter when we have a good or great team I am happy to watch current videos
However when not so good tend to revert to the days when we played well and were more successful
I hope I start to watch more of the current team this season!

If you owned QPR right now what would you do?
at 06:36 1 Apr 2019

These are very different times from when Jim Gregory was running the club.
The current owners seem to not be interested in getting their hands dirty and getting this mess sorted out - they seem to be hanging on for a property deal to get some money back.
In relation to Tony not being involved that is probably a good thing.

If I owned QPR I would organise a full review of the club to work out what is going wrong.
I would look to rebuild and be realistic about the size of our club (similar to Preston) and cut our cloth accordingly (budget 13m and all staff about 110 not the 180 at present)
Every role would be looked at to see if it is actualy required and whether the person was performing in that role.

Based on the review I would assess whether we really need an academy.
Do we really need an under 23 team or switch to a reserve team.
Why is our recruiting not working?
Look at Norwich, Preston, Brentford, Southampton etc for clubs that do these things well.
Based on being a lower championship or league one side do we need a Dof?
How are the manager, DoF and CEO performing?
Why do we have a poor culture?

What would you do if you owned QPR?

Found him on this podcast via twitter
Worth a listen
Some funny stories including about Tony Currie, Terry Venables and why Stainrod left us
Also good story about Eric Cantona and also Simon’s memories of the Cup Final
I think we were blessed to have seen him play for us.
