Southampton 1 v 2 Wolverhampton Wanderers FA Premier League Saturday, 11th February 2023 Kick-off 15:00 |
PeterL22 added 18:19 - Feb 11 On the new guys, Sulemana was the real highlight (say cheerio to him in the Summer). Onuachu is what he is, a big lump who wins balls in the air and holds up fairly well . Due to his reduced mobility we lose a fair bit when pressing, but it may be a good trade off. Alcaraz was also really good and energetic. Anyone tell me why Bednarek keeps getting in the team? Avior added 18:32 - Feb 11 Positives = Bree is calm and Ok. Lavia is class. Alcaraz looks good. Sulemena is like sh&t of a stick and will be really dangerous if he can find some end product. Salisu OK. Mauitland Niles best game since getting here Negatives = Although w eplayed OK in the first half we didnt create many chances against a poor side who lost it for 20 minute. We simply have too many players who are not premier league standard i.e. Bednarek, Perraud, Aribo, Adams and I am afraid Onuachu is not going to solve the problem. And then Jones. I have given him more of a chance than most but today he was outclassed by the Wolves guy. He waited far too long to bring the subs on, Traore was all over Perraud, all he needed to do was match him with Salisu or Lyanco. The 2 new guys and Lavia were out of puff on 60 mins and we totally lost shape. Basically when you play against 10 you keep the ball and stretch them not hoof it forward every time the keeper gets the ball. I sit just behind him and he is a bag of nerves through out the whole game barking complete twaddle at the players which IMO never works. We have to sack him but I am struggling to see who we can get to replace him. See Leeds for details. CommonSaint added 18:41 - Feb 11 What the f*** were those Substitution's the man has no Clue. Hats of to Wolves manager substitution's were spot on showed, he had the bettering of our Incumbent 1885_SFC added 18:53 - Feb 11 @ PeterL22 above, regards how does 'Janny B' keep getting in the side: because his tongue is very long & smooth. PeterL22 added 19:34 - Feb 11 PeterL22 added 19:40 - Feb 11 Can I give Nathan Tella a 10 for his hat-trick today? Loaning him out looks like a really good idea now (not)! SanMarco added 20:34 - Feb 11 His picking of Bednarek and leaving Caleta-Car out altogether today was a definite 'feck you' gesture to the fans. If you do that then it quite simply has to work. A broadly positive performance for an hour which had us heading for vital points turned into another calamity and who was at the centre of it - Bednarek. Of course it wasn't just bednarek's fault (or even Jones' for that matter) that we lost but make that 'feck you' gesture to the fans and you should expect all you get back when it goes horribly wrong yet again. We need a proper manager in place for the kick-off at Stamford Bridge. This afternoon was not just the final nail in Jones' coffin it was almost certainly a last chance wasted for our hopes of staying up. We are basically hoping for a miracle now - anyone think Jones is going to deliver it? sandywelsh added 20:45 - Feb 11 As soon as I saw the team sheet with Bednarek playing I knew we would lose. The best thing he done for us was going to villa. Jones Out Now!!!! Bawdrip added 21:58 - Feb 11 Thought we did OK (though largely playing against ten men) but totally imploded again for the last 15 minutes. Panic set in and weird substitutions. New players did well and made a difference with Sulemana the pick of them. Three must win home games...Forest, Villa and Wolves and we lose all three. Unbelievable! Wasted two freekicks by Ward Prowse. Why not go for goal? YosemiteSaint added 23:08 - Feb 11 If there's any positive to take from today's match, it's that we have now scientifically proven, pinpointed through empirical evidence, that the problem is the manager.
