The Frankie Friday Music Thread.....RIP on 18:02 - Aug 18 by CroydonCaptJack
When UB40 were good
Totally agree mate. Loved UB40 from the moment I first heard 'Food For Thought' back when I was 14 in 1980. The album 'Signing Off' was in my eyes the best they ever done.
Shame they sort of sold out later on but still done some great stuff.
On the dub tip.

Out to my mate Woodski who still amazes me away with his random text telling me to listen to this and to listen to that. I doff my cap as you still pull gems out that I've never heard of before!?
That's what is great about music old and new......... still being educated even at 55 years old.

Right...... easing into a Friday now with some numbers from one the UK's finest soul products - Loose Ends
"Sort ya life art"
This one evokes so many memories. I was 16 going on 17 and I can still recall rolling round in my mates VW Golf, this blaring, Blue Stratos in the air like a buncefield vapour cloud, luminous Lyle & Scott jumpers, faded jeans and.... beleive me.... I had a full head of hair all wedged and stepped. Days....
You can pick me up - you can pull me down
And finally
Have a good day all... better than me anyway
Loose Ends top draw

Regular viewers wil have noticed I love this fellas videos that he chops together - top Norvern fodder. He's running out of fresh footage which isn't surprising but the start to this one got me all wistful this morning... maybe even emotional!!! The still photos at the beginning........
Just how simple was it and how absolutely 'kin brillaint was it? Couple of dustsheets, two decks, an amp, some speakers, a box of vinyl and a bundle of people who just wanted to get down? (And up) Took me back to quite a few little partys and made me so grateful I got into it and experienced what I experienced. Yeah there was some "raw edges" to the various scenes but the music that will last forever, smiling faces, laughs and the girls ... oh the girls! The big raves were superb as well of course..... times, just the best of times.
Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal
