Dear Football Gods..... 17:07 - Dec 3 with 11664 viewsRAFCBLUE

..... Manchester United (a) in Round 3 please.

Our reasoning:

* This team does not get the credit it deserves
* This club deserves a bumper payday that will be used to secure the future.
* The world deserves to see Conrad Logan vs Ibrahimovic on TV.

Thanks in anticipation.

Good to see SoftLad as miserable as ever.........and what's happened to O'Sullivan's gloves,he wore them in July.

How was Coleman miserable?

He spoke perfect sense about their win at Woking.

How on earth do the FA or sponsors decide which number is given to each team? Ive been gawping at the screen for ages and cant figure it out!

The Premier League and Championship clubs are numbered 1-44 by alphabetical order.

The remaining teams are numbered by whatever order they were drawn out in the previous round.

Our match was the 20th and last one out last time, meaning we are ball number 64 (44+20).

If we are the tenth match out in round three, Dale or our opponents will be ball number 10 for round four.

To be honest, the numbers don't really matter as each one is equally likely to be drawn out.

My preferred list, in order, all away from home, taking into account travel, cost and previously played:

Manchester City
Everton
Arsenal
Chelsea
Spurs
West Ham
Manchester United
Liverpool
Newcastle
Crystal Palace

Anybody else at home.

Gut feeling is Bolton away !!

Odd team selection aside, Liverpool were awesome that day. Rush, Collymore, McAteer and McManaman especially. I remember being in awe of their back four being able to pass it between themselves at will, too (I hadn't been spoiled by Keith Hill at that point).

The mauling was such an anti climax given the occasion. Did it take a replay against Darlington to get there? I seem to remember a Paul Moulden header clinching it, but could be wrong. It was definitely the season we battered Rotherham in round one.

The next third round trip I remember against a Premier League side was away at Charlton. Me and wor lads went on one of the official coaches and it was blowing a gale. One of the hatches blew off the roof of the coach and we had to wait for a replacement. Thankfully we still made the game for kick-off. Grant Holt scored a decent goal, but, once again, we were outclassed.

For a long time I used to say how I never understood why Liverpool took on .Paul Konchesky having watched Leo Bertos skin him repeatedly that day. Subsequently I learned that Konchesky didn't come on until the 79th minute, by which time we were already 4-1 down.
