Nations that Rangers have played in....... 11:40 - Apr 22 with 3594 viewsSonofNorfolt

A lot less than the players, although this may throw up a few surprises I hope.

Ireland, Scotland, Sweden, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy etc
I know we played in Turkey in the '50's and Australia/NZ in '83.

Off you go to a dark room to think.......

We definitely played in Hibs in the early 90's.

I partied all the way through the night before and missed the train at King's Cross by a couple of minutes.

I went on the overnight sleeper train to that Hibs friendly in 95. Stayed in the restaurant carriage all night drinking, got to Edinburgh, had the biggest heart attack on a plate you could wish for breakfast, and then carried on drinking.

I fell asleep on the train home and woke up feeling rough as arseholes with dribble all down my face. Hoped we were almost home and looked out of the window to see we were only at Durham.

Great night/day though

I'm sure I read somewhere that we did a tour of Oceana in the 1970s or 80s. Think we played games in New Zealand and Fiji amongst other places.

I’ve never found out any other info on this planned tour of Jamaica in 1974. I reckon it either never happened or some mad, swept under the carpet, hedonist shît took place a la Happy Mondays in Barbados ‘92. Bowlsey being the Shaun Ryder to Mick Leach’s Bez.

In his autobiography, Stan Bowles mentioned playing matches in Greenland in his later years.

Wellington Invitation XI v QPR

Great piece about the New Zealand tour in the link below. Be interesting to know where the New Caledonia and District Association XI game’s took place. Also a Hibbs (sic) (some bad place name spelling in that list) pre-season friendly later in Summer of ‘83

Edit:

Reading Dennis Signy’s column in the programme of the first home game back 83/84 it would seem New Caledonia in the South Pacific was visited. Has to be one of the most far-flung away days ever - anyone from here go?

Not with QPR. Hilarious and fascinating story though.

In that case, it was a pre-season game before we commenced our glorious relegation campaign.

I have to say that a game played in Edinburgh during the festival, is a fantastic weekend!

Italy - Stresa 2015 (?). Rangers demolish a schools team after it turns out that Tony's barber's cousin is not actually the offical agent of Dynamo Kiev.

Me and the then Mrs Hopp simpering in mute awe at Jamie Mackie, Clint Hill and Rob Green from the next table on the hotel terrace.
