Non QPR thread - Iain Banks books 13:46 - Jan 13 with 699 views | PeterHucker | I know you lot are an erudite bunch so I thought I'd ask for your help..... I've nearly finished reading Dead Air by Iain Banks. It's really good, and it's reminded me of how much I enjoy his stuff. Any Banks fans out there? I really really liked The Quarry, Transition & The Wasp Factory. Have also read The Business and The Crow Road which I didn't think were as good as those others. Any suggestions for which one should I read next?

His Iain M Banks books I love too, but they're very different, sci-fi stuff. Give Feersum Enjinn )sp?) a go and see if you get on with them, there are loads of them. He also wrote a book about whisky that I loved just before he died. He really nailed life old Iain - he'd spend 11 months of the year doing whatever he wanted, then hunker down for one month a year in winter and knock out his next book. Lived the dream.

He died so young, we all lost out on a lot of great writing when he went. Also a man of fairly sound politics and a nose for a good scotch apparently.
