He was an integral part of our greatest ever team but you rarely hear his name mentioned. Not a lot of footage of him in our shirt even on YouTube and QPR Memories.
I found this brilliant footage of Watford v Notts County in 1972 which County won 4-1 with a tasty finish from Masson at the end.
Any other other rare footage, photos or words about him?
By memory when he left us he joined Forest, then managed by Clough ( hope I'm right ) and no higher praise needed than being bought by him.
Wonderful stylish player, lovely passer and one of those players than fitted into the team, not a star, but critical to make the team work.
You're probably confusing him with Stan who had an interesting six months or so there before falling out with Cloughie, nearly winning a European Cup winners medal in 1980.
Masson was swapped in late 1977 with Leighton James at Derby in a move that suited neither player. James never really settled here and Don had an unhappy half a season or so which probably contributed to his poor form at the 1978 World Cup.
After the World Cup he went back to his spiritual home with Notts County where he got promoted with them to division one in 1981.
