What the maximum points deduction for blowing FFP? 16:02 - May 9 with 6049 viewsloftboy

If it’s about 12 we should maybe look at blowing it, a decent set of players would surely get us to 75 points, 12 points deduction we would still be top half !!

So why can’t we spread transfer fees over seven years

The player would have to agree to sign for 7 years and the selling club would need to agree for the fee to be spread over 7 years. If they agree that then we could do the same

I'm just guessing, but didn't all the clubs vote for it?

If so, it'd be hard to say they were forced into a disadvntageous situation.

exactly this, it's the clubs that brought this in so they can't really complain about it

Maybe it’s time they voted to get rid of it. My point was - is it legal?

Sorry, Hooparaoo, I was trying to answer.

I don't know British law, but my worry is that this would be a vivil matter and not criminal, and that there was a willing agreement by all parties so I can't see how there would be a breach or a restraint when all parties got exactly what they agreed to.

I'm the same...We've known this has been coming for months, years even, but this week it's really hitting home.

sure they'd get a say in how they get the transfer fee, it's usually spread over a few years anyway. These Chelsea ones are such daft money the selling clubs can't believe their luck

I think as it's part of the rules of the competition such you'd do well to over turn it. I'm sure we tried last time we were found guilty

As frustrating as it is I'm not sure FFP is our biggest problem, it does leave you going into a fight with a hand tied behind your back but that has always been the way when other clubs can spend more than you, we've just got to start using the money we have a lot better than we have been

I'm slowly coming round to the idea that FFP and the spending restraints are actually a good thing, after years of being frustrated that QPR can't spend to compete with teams being relegated from the league above.

If all teams in the league could spend what they wanted, would QPR be any higher in the league? There'd still be clubs with bigger wallets, clubs who are better run, clubs who recruit better. All that would happen is that the debt on QPR's books would be 5 times as much as it currently is.

So Chelsea have a good relationship with the clubs they buy from

The bigger the income the more that you can spend. FFP has not changed that what it has done is enforce it such that owners can no longer put money into a club even if not a loan. Except of course if you are one of protected clubs in the Premier league that FFP was introduced to protect. Why clubs voted for I have never understood and can only assume the concept has turned out differently than what was presented by the FA etc

You’re confusing the contract with the player with the contract, and the cash flow, with the selling club. They are not the same thing and will have differing timelines.
