Gets everywhere doesn't it?

This:

Trevor Francis: Ex-England player and Britain's first £1m footballer dies aged 69 - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66287307

Versus this:

Kylian Mbappe: Al-Hilal make £259m offer for PSG and France forward - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66291108

£1 million in 1979 is the equivalent of £6.5 million today.

The average persons salary in 1979 was £69 per week (equivalent to £350 today).
The average salary today is £580 per week.

In todays money, the average house price in 1979 was £120,000, today it’s £290,000.

So, the average person salary has gone up 1.7 times but we have less disposable income due to high property prices yet the bid for Mbappe is 40 times more than Francis (wages will be equally excessive).

Let that sunk in when you’re struggling to renew (but still do) your Sky Sports subscription even though the sport now reaches a global audience compared to back then so it’s nothing short of pure greed on a grand scale.

Apparently with clauses and shit he went for £1,125,000. The 999999 thing was just Clough being cheeky.

Heard that on the radio yesterday.

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.
