8 Changes - worrying line-up against Liverpool 19:25 - Feb 28 with 5836 views | Flamingbankers | With a forward line of Edozie, Mara and Sulemana, I'm not sure who's supposed to score. Classic Martin.

8 Changes - worrying line-up against Liverpool on 22:01 - Feb 28 by Flamingbankers | Come off it, Armstrong and Adams hardly had a chance - should have played from the beginning. By the time they came on Liverpool had taken ascendancy. [Post edited 28 Feb 22:01]

One of the reasons for that, apart from the fact that Smallbone wrecked our midfield, was that they didn't run as much or try as hard as the youngsters did to get the ball. Adams, especially, was just ambling around nonchalantly expecting others to do the hard work, whereas the starting eleven were all running their socks off and working for each other. 4th best team in the Championship loses to arguably the best club in Europe. Yes they played loads of kids but still had Van Duke, MacCallister, Gapko, Gomez, Konate and Elliot on the pitchat various points. We missed some great opportunities. We played really well for big chunks of the first half. I repeat we are the 4th best team in the Championship and Liverpool arguably the best or one of the best sides in Europe. The comments on this thread are frankly laughable.

To be fair to him, apart from their poor finishing wasting good chances to put us 2 or 3 goals ahead, the starting eleven played very well. It was the substitutes who let us down badly. Smallbone really shouldn't play for us any more. He is a big problem in the centre of our team. In his post-match interview, even Klopp commented on the difference: "Southampton's midfield played very well in the first half." [Post edited 28 Feb 22:15]

8 Changes - worrying line-up against Liverpool on 22:16 - Feb 28 with 1046 views | 10i | Honestly you'd have to say Mara wouldn't be a starter in Liverpools U18. And hopefully we would get some Chances against a Mixture of Liverpool Reserves and their U18 Team. Well, in the end that Shows how far we are off, and that there would be a reason to hope we won't get promoted, as there are many signs that there would be an embarrassing season ahead. Stephens Was by the way the one playing Dann onside for the second and sleeping on the rebound for the Thors. No surprise there He can't even defend an U18 offene.

The comments in this thread are spot on. We played very well UNTIL the substitutes came on. Considering the fact that the substitutes are regular first team players, it's disappointing, to say the least, that they were nowhere near as good as the players they replaced.

Of the players you mention only Gomez played 90 mins. All the others were either substituted or came on as subs. The rest were kids including the debut of a 16 year old.

It's the endless negativity of the comments drives me mad. Yes they fielded loads of kids but they are kids playing for one of the top 3 sides in Europe and we are a fourth place team in the Championship who are out of form and played a second string side. I agree with the comments about our subs making us worse and Smallbone had a shocker. I just thought we played some great football first half without the end product. Too many posters seem desperate for Martin to fail.

8 Changes - worrying line-up against Liverpool on 21:35 - Feb 28 by cocklebreath | Ffs does Russell watch the match? Sulli and Edozie really dangerous so both off and Mara stays on but on the wing where he’s fooking hopeless |
Agreed, what a disappointing evening yet also thoroughly predictable Small one Charles Bree Manning just cannot keep hold of the ball We cannot convert chances because we don’t have good enough strikers Nobody made any sort of challenge for btheir goal Edozie was having joy on the right so Wussell subs him Once again playing players out of position Aribo looked good We have to stop all this tippy tappy at the back it’s suicidal especially against good teams Even Liverpools full backs get it down the line quickly which we NEVER do All depressingly familiar And a long way to go to see that starting line up We aren’t second in the league we are playoffs at best so play your best team Need Downes KWP THB and Stuey in that team every game
8 Changes - worrying line-up against Liverpool on 22:54 - Feb 28 with 922 views | DorsetIan | Edozie was our only attacking threat when he was taken off. The team at the end was all over the place and never going to score in a million years. Mara on the wing is pointless - we saw that in the first half against Watford in the last round. In tbe middle he has a chance, but the way Danns took his opportunities compared to us says it all. Smallbone...he's OK if everything is going well. Reads the game well, gets in good positions, links up the play. But he's only got that one mode and when the pressure in one from the other team it's not what we need - summed up by his awful pass for the second goal. And there's something odd about his expressionless face. Never see him smile. Never see him get agitated or frustrated. Or angry. Maybe if you're Pirlo, you can play the game in a state of relaxed contentment. But he ain't Pirlo.

Wrong, we're desperate for RM to succeed but get frustrated when we can see that is unlikely to happen. That is what this forum is for to allow us to express our frustrations.

Sulli was a threat as well but was also taken off, subs for the sake of it and Mara is not a winger
