Harrison Miles on 07:47 - Sep 28 with 2366 views | SalisburySaint | Sums up everything that’s wrong with football, when the big clubs come along and scoop up all the good talent just before they sign the first professional contract for peanuts, from clubs who’ve had those players in their Academies for years. Hope the lad doesn’t regret being a pawn in the City set up, rather than a potential King in ours [Post edited 28 Sep 10:07]

Harrison Miles on 07:49 - Sep 28 with 2359 views | PatfromPoole | Alfred House from the local press claims we are receiving a 7-figure fee now, with future sell-on clauses. Hopefully he will do a Dibling and return to us. He also mentions that we sold defender Max Alleyne to City in 2021 for £1.5 million. Whatever became of him??!?? [Post edited 28 Sep 8:14]

Wouldn’t of happened if Ralph would of still been manager.
| We thought that we had the answers,
It was the questions we had wrong. |

This will give us more intakes and positives than the negatives exhibited in this case - Man City are simply top of the food chain.
Harrison Miles on 11:34 - Sep 28 with 2063 views | Ifonly | Dibling is a complete one-off that's unlikely to be repeated. By rights he should be at Chelsea now with Jimmy Jay. The only reason he isn't is because he got homesick. That's hardly a basis to build your youth policy around. The reality is that it isn't worth developing these kids these days. The good ones will be pinched, leaving you with basically nothing. Brentford did the smart thing and scrapped their academy. They switched to bringing in 16 to 18 year olds who didn't quite make the very top or those who are attracted by an early chance at the first team (like we did with Sam Amo, Meghoma or Nathan Tella). It hasn't done Brentford any harm. If you lose them at least you get a decent fee and you haven't wasted years developing them.

Prerhaps it is time for indentured apprenticeships - a commitment to stay for three years perhaps. The trouble is if you support a child in the academy and before he turns sixteen, you can get a million for him before he breaks something, it looks like good business.
