Options up Front - Charlie Kelman 00:14 - Jan 7 with 1557 viewsnumptydumpty

With Frey and Lloyd playing so well today and Kolli also having a few decent performances on the back of Celar finally breaking his duck, i decided to check how Charlie Kelman has been doing at Leyton Orient in league One.

Thought he may have got maybe two or three goals but was very surprised to see he has :

10 goals and 4 assists so far this season.

He has only just turned 23.

I didn't think he has looked up to Championship football, but seems a decent haul. I am not sure if he is out of contract here when he returns but if he manages 20 goals and 8 assists ie doubling for the rest of the season ie we just past halfway, maybe he is improving.

Anyhow interesting if nothing else !!

I watch every Orient game highlights, I'm delighted for Charlie, we should accept their offer when they make it, unless Real Madrid step up.

Poll: Thank God The Seaons Over.

I suspect L1 is his top level. But hes doing v well at Orient.

If Orient offer an old Boy Scout hat and a bag of marbles we should snatch their hand off I.. IMO

It was the making of Paul Smyth.

But as we saw with Bonne, being prolific in League One does not necessarily translate to being even moderately effective at Championship level as a striker.

Exactly. Especially as Charlie has missed ten big chances this season. Even Celar has only missed five.

I just don't think you can get away with that level of missed opportunities in the Championship.

Who is creating all these Orient chances, who is this playmaker?
This is a person of interest, especially if they are young.

I wouldn't see it as a negative that Kelman has missed big chances. Look at Frey and Dunne last night and they are both on top of their game. Celar has missed less chances because he wasn't always in the right position.
I would love to see Kelman recalled for the 2nd half of the season and maybe let Bennie our in his place as he is getting very little game time at the minute . It would be interesting to see if he has developed over the past few months If not, then consider releasing/selling but if we learned anything from Smyth is that some players take longer to reach a certain level than others
