Another low crowd 20:52 - Mar 8 with 7536 views | builthjack | Under 14,000 on a nice sunny day. What would you do to get bums on seats ? For next Saturday I would offer in the region of 3000-4000 seats at £10 adults , £5 senior, student and u18. £3 u12. Put a window of Monday - Thursday. Make money in the club shop, and catering outlets. What would others do?
| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Another low crowd on 19:03 - Mar 11 by SullutaCreturned | I know people who went to Scotland for the rugby. Some may not want to believe it but there are those who follow both sports. |
I'm one who follows both codes , Swans firstly though as its always been. I'm lucky in as much one of the grandkids plays on a Sunday , he's a gifted footballer Swansea ST holder and rugby player but soon he'll have to decide what code he wants to play in as KOs will clash as will training etc. But what ever sport he picks at least he is playing a sport.

I'll more I believe it's more to do with how we're playing than the cost of going which is of course a big factor , the row behind me is now close to empty most games and these are season ticket holders , the product is poor and after the Burnley game who would to pay to to watch that standard of football.

That question is one that has been being asked for months though, they needed to act sooner.

Another low crowd on 15:59 - Mar 11 by SullutaCreturned | 100% agree. Our local park here in Skewen, the cricket club has taken over the running of the cricket AND football pitch andto stop vandalism AND the useless dog owners who don't pick up the poo, it's been fenced off. I don't like it but I understand why. When the people doing all the hard work who literally put their own time and a lot of money into improving facilites then they won't want it being damaged by dog walkers and kids. Then they apparently spent over 30k having it all fenced off. It's happening in many places, it happened in Waunarlwydd not long back What annoys me just as much is these places are leased out and still our council tax goes up. Your basic point still stands though, academies hover up a lot of youngsters, those left behind don't get out and play and those "released" just give up because they think they are crap. nTeenagers can't be bothered to play, they'd rather be on consoles and make out they're Messi because they can score from 30 yards on a tv. All this elite hype is ruining football at a basic level. it's taken the fun out of it because as soon as parents think they're kid has enough talent the pressure builds and... shoutoutuk.org/2022/01/31/the-dark-side-of-football-academies-no-one-wants-to-discuss/ Sorry but it's a copy and paste, for some reason my laptop won't let me post a proper link! |
I once played on that pitch for Coedffranc AFC ( didn't have to go far as halfway line was behind my garden ) Mr Huw Jenkins of Swans fame I know he was watching me with interest over his low back garden wall but the call to join Swans never came. He clearly wasnt impressed - neither were Coedffranc AFC, as they never picked me again ! On a serious note I used to love walking the dog in the park with no restrictions Still go there today but sad to see a public pitch "privatised" in such a way Agree though the days of kids ( and even men ) having impromptu games of footy in the park I remember going over the park to play football with all my friends, my dear late adoring mother's words ringing in my ears " ... And dont come back until school starts again !!"

Coedffranc played on the bottom pitch at Skewen Park back in the day . Sloped more than Mt. Everest in places . Drive past that spot of grass on occasions whilst in Skewen / Llandarcy area back road and still look across , great memories .

Probably right. I think the team in question was ran from the Rock and Fountain at the time. I am going back to circa September 1983 ( I remember it only because i ran the Cardiff Marathon the next day with an injured toe sustained in the game the day before ) I used poetic licence on three points 1 - which Skewen team it was 2 - Not sure when Huw moved into his house looking out at the park 3 - As a child my mother did let me come home each evening The rest is true As you say great memories of a park that was the hub of the community for many years. Now more marginalised and underused sadly, as with many parks and playing fields

Another low crowd on 14:49 - Mar 20 with 374 views | swansvalleyjack | I left half time at the Burnley game. They were in 2nd gear, no way were we going to get anything out of the game. I had better things to do. And me a season ticket holder for 40 yrs. People are dropping out of going, through the very poor fare on offer on the pitch. Simples. And btw, when I don't go , there's no way I'm viewing from an armchair..poor football is poor football wherever you watch it. O'Brien surging forward btw is a breath of fresh air...we desperately also need decent wingers with pace and crossing accuracy, and a good target man who can convert reasonable chances. In short, some winning entertaining football.. tippy tappy with % possession is so boring. Nothing like Martinez, Brendan and Laudrup.

And that was without the modern trappings of IPTV. Gates were always going to drop year on year of we didn't get back to the prem. In the last few seasons the gates dropping have been laid on managers but that's just an agenda that suits individuals. Guess what!? When or if we go to L1 then they will drop further....it's the nature of the beast.

Yes might have been the same era , did to the Cardiff half / full marathon about then . A course with a two lap loop over the same route , was fit then and done the half in 1.32 . Wish I could roll the years back and achieve that again , sadly not but I have the photo . The monster Jimmy Saville was doing the run when I took part , passed him and his minders en route . He took a bit of time to stop and chat with youngsters waving their Welsh Dragon flags roadside looking back now and at the time nothing sinister . How fooled was I to think this was a celeb being one of the people , I passed by with a small glance , no issues to him chatting to the children on the pavement . A horrendous bloke , but now looking back seen how he operated .
