I got off the train at Neath a few days ago and wondered around a bit waiting to be picked by my relatives, what has happened to Neath a shell of its proud past of a bustling working class rugby town. I got off the train and crossed the car park footbridge and walked over opposite the old police station just that walk it's self was like walking through Belfast in the 1970's what an absolute mess of a place. This town was built on hard working people proud of their town and history and now it's just boarded up shops, bargain booze and chavs screaming at each other I haven't been to Neath for at least 10yrs and was totally gobsmacked by the state of the place.

Haven’t been to the station for a long time, go to the market and town centre, can’t see how businesses remaining there are making a living, the Trostre retail park is well attended and quite busy.

It's the same thing that largely did for Swansea City centre initially. Moron councillors encouraging the development of our of town retail parks whilst simultaneously making it more and more difficult and expensive for people to take their cars into the city centre.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I was in Krakow last year, lovely place and if anyone on here hasn’t visited it I’d defo recommend.
Lovely town centre, lots to see and plenty of nightlife if you want it.

Expensive ?
£1 per hour ?
Even less if you get the MI Permit with residents discount through the Swansea City Council Website ?

Measures taken long after the damage had already been done. It certainly wasn't that cheap (relatively) when they were tearing up the roads for the bendy bus and pedestrianising chunks of the city centre. In any case, free is still cheaper than £1 an hour, so people will go where parking is free.

In common with local authorities all over the UK, Swansea council thought people would voluntarily catch the bus into town to do a days shopping. They were wrong.

People will not pay £5 parking for a mornings shopping, more if you stay for lunch.

Very nice place, but not much outside of the main square and a few streets leading off it

It’s not just the parking though, it’s the hassle of getting in to the city centre with the endless procession of traffic lights, congestion etc. Dr W makes good points in his post too.

Last time I went to Swansea City centre was for a graduation last summer, it was the first time in years and I’ve not been back.

Irrelevant pointing out certain obvious targets as a lost cause these days .

My old stomping ground of Llanelli is trying to improve its culture and look .
Station Road will always be the fly in the ointment in that necessary change .

Neath no different to any populated area , maybe NPTC uses my hard earned to finance a certain location close to the train station , cheap booze shop alongside that area .

Trip to Birmingham a few years ago , tents were pitched alongside the roads on grass verges leading into the City Centre , great look for a visitor .

£5 for 24 hours in the quadrant.
£1 per hour for the first 4 hours.
That’s very cheap for a city.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

I'll hold my hand up I didn't realise it was that cheap. £1 for four hours is very cheap as you say.

That'sif you can get in the council car parks and they fill up quickly in the mornings with the commuters. After them it's NCP mostly and they are expensive. City gates car park is ridiculous for the first 3 to 4 hours. Specially when Orchard street is much cheaper.
