Anyone on here bought the retro version of the ZX Spectrum with the games includ on 19:57 - Apr 2 with 388 views | GaryBannister86 | Loved my spectrum so been really tempted but was sold out over Christmas so I don't have first hand experience yet. I have heard on the various groups that The Spectrum is the one to get - by a mile. I have also heard, however, that we have over romanticised how good these games were and playing them again 40 years later is somewhat....underwhelming. But it's just about the nostalgia, I think. MatchDay II, Football Manager, Nigel Mansell's Grand Prix....aaaahhhhh.

There was one, our family loved which was Jumping Jack. Very simple but made us laugh in the early 80s. Track n Field was another. Destroyed my 'n' button which most did. Yep football manager and you didn't have to play for the same time as an entire season to get through a season. I actually bought an arcade table machine few years ago with Galaxians, Defender, Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, Pacman Breakout Frogger and various others. Will wait then for the spectrum then.

100% right on the nostalgia inflating the enjoyability. I visited the Micro Museum in Ramsgate last year while there for a day. Incredible place to go, every computer you can think of there from late 70s to 2000s in pristine condition. A fully working C64, an Amstrad CPC 464 complete with green monitor which is exactly what I had as a child. The monitor is tiny, but back in the day it was, well, normal. The games are basic, the framerates shocking and the sounds, just irritating. Atari ST though, different class.
