Should Will Still be sacked? on 18:41 - Oct 26 by grumpy
What I would give to see Ronald Koeman here again.
I'm with you there. Apart from Laurie, Koeman is my favourite Saints manager. A fantastic player, great manager, so strong and ambitious. Instantly respected, didn't take any sh!t.

I will have a look. He's the man for sure. A proper manager, proper leader. The type of manager, you would just instantly listen to. As you say, he has played for and managed the worlds greatest clubs.

Halloween is Friday.
Some of those witches are psychics
Lose against Preston and in the best traditions of Graham Taylor the Echo can put a picture on their back page of Still’s head superimposed onto a pumpkin!
I think the managament have again been found wanting and they clearly took a very big gamble bringing in Will Still, even more so without his brothers. We didnt spend big on a proven goalscorer because we hoped that Ross Stewart would deliver. Its a bit crazy how much money was spent and to see our position in the league.
The contract extension to Jack Stephens was a total farce and i think typical of the interference from the floundering CEO Phil Parsons. He's also directly responsible for not only bringing back the traitor Lallana, but he then has the front to say to Will, hes going to be one of your assistants !
Will Still is not very good with the media, he answers the question frankly, but really does give the impression, that hes struggling with the size of the job.
I think its 50 / 50 on some of the players weve brought in some look to be good if theyre being driven to do so by a manager up to it. As always, a couple are simply not up to the job of the championship.

Anyone who takes on this job is set up to fail.
So far in Sport Republic's disastrous time, I would agree, but I am struggling to understand how having good players like Fellows, Azaz, Armstrong, Aribo, Stephens, Sciensa is setting him.up to fail. They arn't playing for the manager. Good, experienced managers know how to win games. Preston are nothing special talent wise, but they did it by working hard, everyone knew their position on the pitch, well.orgamised and got the job done.

The good players that you mention have not done anything to justify that accolade. Is that their fault? Yes. Should the manager shoulder the blame ? Yes. Did he identify signing these players on his wish list? I don’t know. The malaise at Southampton Football Club is at every level. It seems that anyone who takes on the job is set up to fail.

Why have good players under different managers, played so.well last season and not this season? Why might that be? Suddenly got lazy?
How would you feel if you were Jack Stephens, given a new 3 year contract, made the captain and were then thrown out of the team?
How would you feel if you were Robinson or Matsuki, played brilliantly in a game, scored good goals, then thrown out of the team?
How would you feel if you were the players, and your manager just says shut up and get on with it?
When asked in his interview this evening about how to change things he said and I quote " I don't know".
If it was me, I wouldnt have any trust in the boss and worry that the boss doesn't know.
Will Still said we will all really fight this weekend and turn it around. Did they f@ck. So he says things that don't happen.
Played a back 5 again, and my one shot on.target. When Will Still gets sacked.l, I am pretty sure we might see Fellows, Azaz, and other good players giving more. The organisation of Preston was miles away from our chaotic setup.
But I take the point that the owners are terrible and don't ever help the manager.

I agree , that the appointment of this guy is the latest in a long line of managerial cock ups and that he should be dismissed. I’m certain that things will not improve as a result. No fun as a Saint these days. Things need to change and as I’ve said before, whatever it takes.
