If he comes in and does well do we give him a run of games?

He seems to have a decent pedigree as an assistant manager and is doing well with the U21s in his first spell as head coach.

People may think we need an established coach now but I think this season is more about consolidating. If we get a coach who gets this squad promoted this season, unless we do something spectacular in the summer transfer window we are coming straight back down with probably a record low points tally

What does everyone think?

Not a chance. The last thing we need is another inexperienced child running the side.

Fair enough. Who do you suggest?

I’m not saying go for Eckert, just putting the question out there

Personally I’d like to see van Bronkhorst but would he leave Liverpool?

I can see what you mean about the prospects next season if we did get up this season but what a season Sunderland are having and I'm guessing all of there fans would of said the same, so it can be done?

I suppose if we get the right man and back him in the next window

I can see Sports Republic sticking with Eckert if he does reasonably well because it’s the cheap option

well if he wins the next two thats a conversation
I still think he falls into the same category as Still so gives us the same alleged issues

Just seen his first team selection

Bazunu and Stephen’s in, five at the back and Fellows at wing back - he obviously doesn’t want the job 😅😅

I would be ok with Gerrard or Carrick. Both would command respect, both would be strong enough to deal with a trouble in the dressing room and both played at the very highest level.

Would be great if we could prise Robins or Lampard away, but that is very unlikely.

I’d be happy with Carrick but it’s hard to judge Gerrard because he stank the place out at Villa and other than that he’s only managed at L2 level (ie Scotland and Saudi Arabia) 😉

This is leftfield but these players need a kick up the arse. Pulis or Warnock.

Did you expect any different ? We need a total clear out after the revelation that these players have not been giving 100 per cent. Eckert is a patsy.

I thought we won.

I agree that our squad is very poor, but, to win his first game away with a team that's only won 4 of its last 51 games, is not bad.

Looks like we'll be playing 3 CB's for the foreseeable then!

I don't see us getting anywhere with Eckart, but he has to have better luck than Still, so results may improve briefly.

Watched his pre-match press rv today.
Liked what he had to say.
Hope he gets the job.

He’s probably earned himself a couple more games

If he beats the statistically bestest manager in the universe next time up who knows

There’s something about him.
English isn’t his mother tongue yet he makes perfect sense with no redundant words, unlike the last bloke.

If the last three years has taught us anything, it's that we don't need another Ruben Selles tyoe character, like Eckert.

Ive had more than i can bear off this tedious ineffective 5 at the back ideology. It makes for boring sideways backwards football yet seems to being no obvious benefit. If Eckert gets appointed, I'm done with going to St Mary's.

I thank him for his last 2 games service. Yet the football is still turgid

Thank you
5 at the back HAS to go it plays right into pedestrian Slacks hands rolling it across a back three and back to the keeper and fannying about inviting pressure
We just beat two of the weakest teams around I don’t think that means he gets the job

Have to 100% agree on this. Our players are used to 3 CB's though, which is why I think the Interim Managers don't have the bottle to change it.
