Oh Yeh! I forgot Ruddock went to Spurs first. He certainly had a great sense of humour. I can't attest to how awful seeing his bare arse was though :) |

Anyone remember the old Den? I remember going in the late 80's/early 90's when Millwall were briefly in the top flight. They had Tony Cascarino and Teddy Sherringham up front so were a damn good outfit at the time. I rememeber getting a can of Lilt taken off me by the police on the way in as that was obviously considered as a weapon back then. We then preceded to be shown into our "cage" for the match. We started to take the piss out of the Millwall kids at the back with their squeaky voices, chanting "Meeewall, Meeewall". The MIllwall fans were not best pleased and too say there were a few threats would be an understatement. They kept us in for a long time after the game as aresult, so they could stop Millwall fans going for us. I think the match was a draw but it wasn't a memorable one. I remember Glenn Cockerill scored. |

Oooo! Terry Hurlock Oooo! Terry Hurlock. Talk about ferocious in the tackle. Neil "Stomper Ruddock" as well. Imagine if they had played in the same Saints team. I think they missed each other by about a year or 2. Think Ruddock was sold to liverpool before Hurlock arrived. |

Well after the last 2 games he's won me over. The QPR game we should probably have not won that. He got lucky, but luck is something a manager needs on his side,so I'm all for that. Lets face it Saints needed some luck and it's started this great run. The wins at Charlton and here against Leicester have not been in the slighlest lucky though. TA has got them breaking fast out of the press. We didn't see this in any of Will Stills games. What TA has brought is new and all about the style he is enforcing on the team. I really couldn't see anything under Will Still apart from an impotent version of Russ Ball. I think the players were not being coached (or they were just ignoring him). They were having to play based on their previous experience under RM. I think on the evidence so far it's clear TA has a working formula with this team and thats quite a rare thing, to get the team playing consistenty well. If he wins at Millwall he's got to get the job. If he loses, we'll see for the first time in the games to follow if he's a quick learner and can get the team to bounce back, in which case you have to give him until Xmas really as a minimum, but must decide before the Jan transfer window. |

Very good 1st half display. Saints were briefed well and played a tactically astute game. Charlton pressing and saints playing between the lines made this one way traffic. They did figure it out in the 2nd half though so don't get too excited. Tonda is already proving himself a far better manager than Still, but he hasn't played a top 6 team as yet, Still played 5 of the top 6, lost 4 and drew 1. We have to play Coventry yet who are flying and before that a tricky Leicester team. I think the Foxes will give Ekhart his first true test as they are potentially top 6 material. We might not have had time to fully assess the new blood coming in since the summer, but I would like to know peoples opions on them so far. I hope it's subject to change becasue I think some of them we'll needto see a massive improvment. I'm hoping the new manager gives them a fair chance. My scores on the doors. Leo Scienza - Has been inspirational on and off the pitch since his arrival. I like his directness and he has a good shot. 8/10 Casper Jander - Needs to work on his finishing as he's missed a few sitters, but to be getting in the position to miss in the first place is a real positive. Doesn't go missing like some of his team mates 7/10 Tom Fellows - Sometimes his dribbles end up going nowhere, but the one that ended up with an assist to Fin Azaz was excellent. Has had some good spells in games. Probably more positive than negative, but can be quiet soemtimes. We need to get the ball to him more. 6/10 Josh Quarshie - Has strength and pace, but can't read the game as yet. Hopefully this will improve but I fear he's going to0 cost us goals by being out of position. definately one for the future though. I hope he gets game time so that his development isnt' stifled 5/10 Fin Azaz - Until the Sheff Weds game he's been a bit of an anomoly. Very much disappears from the game for long periods (exactly what I heard before we signed him). I won't be bothered if he contributes goals and assists, so lets hope his productivity improves and matches what he used to do for Boro. 5/10 Mads Roerslev - I'm really not convinced Mads defensivly. He's looked ok going forward at times and even played in midfield, however he was signed as a full back and in that regard I think he's had maybe a couple of decent games. 4/10 Damian Downs - I'm struggling to give him any points to be fair but if we maybe give him some for his pre-season goal and relativly ok performances then. It's clear though games in the Championship are at a pace way too fast for him. His footy brain is not fast enough and he ends up giving the ball away when he should be holding it up. Missed chances he has had, but mostly is too ineffective to get in goalscoring positions in the first place. 2/10 Elias Jelert - Hopefully someone will play him as he's looked very decent. Just not enough game time to score him though. |

They will give Eckert time until Xmas. If he wins another 4/7 games he'll probably get the job. If he only wins 1 or 2 then they will turn to another German Manager. Probably Farke as he'll be available by Xmas. I'd much rather get an experienced manager now, but the one that they want probably isn't going to come right away. |
 | Forum Thread | Interview questions for the next Manager. at 23:16 10 Nov 2025
You are Sports Republic. Legends in spotting young inexperienced manager talent to turn into the next Jurgen Klopp. What would you ask the prospective Managers at interview? A few samples from me : 1. Would you be happy to play at least 3 CB's or maybe even 5 CB's at once, so we can pass it across the backline the whole game? 2. Would you be happy keeping Jack Stephens as Captain? 3. Can you make sure when we put subs on they are played wildly out of position, in keeping with the clubs style? 4. If our team's season was a movie, what genre would it be and who would play you as the manager? |
 | Forum Reply | Tonda Eckert Hits The Top Spot In Bookies Favourites List at 11:26 10 Nov 2025
#Ignore_the_bookies. Until he's had 6 or more games in charge you can't really judge him and therefore he can't be considered for the job. He has no experience as a Manager at this level, so judging him on 2 games is quite laughable. I'd much rather go for experience as we need someone in place after the international break, in order that they can assess their squad and make good in the January transfer window. |

Saints have already had their ex-Skate experiment as Manager. That went well didn't it? NO NO and thrice NO. |

I'm all for whistlblowing if it's for the greater good of the club. It must be frustrating working your socks off, whilst others are just not giving it their best. |
 | Forum Reply | Bazanu at 00:23 9 Nov 2025
I think he means there is potential to change if you're inexperienced. A lot of Bazanu's errors are down to poor decision making. He tends to come out when he shouldn't and punch when he should catch. If he can learn when to do those things and when not to the basis of a good keeper are there. McCarthy is just a poor keeper period. [Post edited 9 Nov 0:24]

Have to 100% agree on this. Our players are used to 3 CB's though, which is why I think the Interim Managers don't have the bottle to change it. |

OK so you have £20 Million to spend. Who are you going to get in January? Free agents out there like Bamford & Antonio so you might not need to spend anything! |
 | Forum Reply | Bazanu at 12:06 6 Nov 2025
We've been lucky with goalkeepers in the past. These two certainly are among the worst in Saints history. I can't argue with that. The stats don't lie. When I first started going I recall John Budgie Burridge being in goal. He was solid. Nothing spectacular, but he didn't need to be. He had a very long career and was a right good character. |
 | Forum Reply | Tonda Eckert at 11:58 6 Nov 2025
Looks like we'll be playing 3 CB's for the foreseeable then! I don't see us getting anywhere with Eckart, but he has to have better luck than Still, so results may improve briefly. |
 | Forum Reply | Southampton At QPR Matchday Thread at 22:05 5 Nov 2025
Well this lucky win hasn't changed my opinions about this Saints side 1. We have only 1 truely good signing. (Leo Scienza) out of the summer window. The rest are bang average championship players or worse. I think in time Azaz, Fellows and Jander might settle to be decent players, but apart from flashes they haven't been consistent. Don't get me started on D Downes! 2. We lack a Powerful striker, who is a goal threat despite the rest of the team. Someone who leads the line and can inspire the others to set him up. 3. We lack a Captain in the midfield. Romeu can't be in the side quick enough. 4. Really not convinced by any of our defenders. Wood has been decent in spells, as had Edwards but we lack consitency. 5. Too many player still want to play Russ Ball. For gods sakes just get them out of the team before they ruin the next manager. (THB, F Downes, Stephens etc) 6. We need to press and use our wide playerrs. 7. For Christ sakes play 4 at the back. We lack bodies in the midfield and it stifles creativity. BY the way I'm too tight to buy FM26, but I'm excellent at FM22. SR are you listening? [Post edited 5 Nov 22:09]

I'm sure RM would be an upgrade on WS and would be able to get a tune out of certain players that obviously didn't want to play for WS. That being said it would show SR's complete lack of ambition to go back to potentially the utter drosh his team served up in the premier league. He would not get us promoted again. He was lucky last time with some decent players he inherited. They have all gone (Stuart Armstong, Che Adams, Bednarek, Walker Peters etc) His tippy tappy possesion at all costs style got us into this position we are in now. The team failed to shake it off completely under WS. We need a stong character to make the right choices ie : Keep Stevens out of the side (1 thing WS got right!), get a Stiker in January and get the players to get stuck in and press the ball.
