| Four minutes of injury time 10:18 - Jan 25 with 1910 views | Wegerles_Stairs | The parallels with the Man City match are obvious: down to ten men for a dumb sending-off to a moneybags club and conceding two injury-time goals for a famous victory that will be replayed endlessly across the media. I checked and the City match had five minutes of injury time. How can a professional football club concede two goals in four minutes of injury time? Surely you run down the clock? Keep possession. Keep it in the opposition half. Waste time. A draw would have been gutting but it happens and on the second half performance was a fair result. But to concede again was pathetic. We literally handed Hollywood FC the money shot they wanted. [Post edited 25 Jan 10:19]

Yes as I say I agreed with an awful lot of your OP. Apologies for the stroppiness . I haven’t recovered 😀

Haha, all good, yes it was too soon as we're all a bit raw still, Plenty of positives yesterday & with so many injuries & limited options on the bench, we were excellent in the 1st Half, hopefully we put two good halves together for our next game...checks fixtures (omg)

Which would be great if football matches lasted 45 minutes.

Said this a bit lately but you can't really be constantly talking about fatigue, fixture congestion, injuries, and then not using a full set of five subs as often as Stephan is. Was it last week we only made three, and two of those on 86 mins? |
Big call to take Cook at that stage though. I can’t see who else he could have changed for Edwards….Field, Hayden and Madson were on in CM, Kolli and Benni just on, and on the wings…..so its Kone or Madson, which would have removed any ambition to attack. Had they got one back and we draw 2-2 everyone would have complained that we were inviting them onto us. If it’s Cook, you’d be worried about the physical battle given the size of their team. I completely agree on previous games, but he made four subs yesterday and sensible times. We could have managed the final 8 mins far better and those senior players needed to push out from the box far better. We also didn’t stick anyone at RB, Hayden could have gone there and brought Madson, Field and Benni back to the middle. If you re-watch the highlights it was Kolli defending the RB spot from their corners and left with a 2 v 1. Dunne, Cook, Field & Hayden needed to get together and get everyone in the right place to see out that game. In around 500 game I can’t recall seeing such a change in 5 mins. They could have scored 4 or 5 times. Was like the Alamo…..absolutely insane. I was at Man City for the Aguerooooo goal and that wasn’t even that bad….

Yes, I meant when Field came on he could have used Edwards as well. And yes, guilty as charged, I didn't read all the posts in the thread before submitting my post. Stephan did not utilise the subs well and it is ridiculous to blame losses on fatigue when not making use of 5 subs in a match.
