Cricket 2024 County/International Thread
at 13:39 9 Apr 2024

With the football season coming to a close in a months time, some here will turn their attention to the smell of freshly mown grass and long days sat in the hot sunny weather watching the great game of cricket.

As a member of Kent Cricket Club, I got to enjoy my first match of the season against Somerset at Canterbury over the last few days. Unfortunately, as is always the way starting the season this early, the first day was lost to rain. In fact nearly all the games were affected by rain, some without a ball even being bowled.

But I did manage to get to see 2 centurions at Canterbury yesterday and a very enjoyable day of cricket (even if I did get sun burned head - Yes I know should have taken a cap).

Did anyone else get to see cricket over the last few days? I know we have several Middlesex supporters who no doubt enjoyed the 'runfest' at Lords (over 1300 runs I believe)

Humble
at 13:57 7 Apr 2024

I've not read all the posts on here since yesterdays defeat, but I was as disappointed as most on here at yesterdays performance. The reality is though, 3 games over the space of 8 days and we took 6 points and lets be honest no one thought we would get 3 of those at Swansea. Our recent record has as I have said several times pulled us free of the relegation zone and more importantly meant that our destiny is still in our own hands.

So come on, as our great leader (cannot believe there is a post questioning his ability) would say, lets stay positive, but more importantly remain humble. Yesterday was an awful day at the office and rather than have a week to dwell on it, the team can put it right on Tuesday evening.

Let HUMBLE be the word of the week

London Marathon 2024
at 07:39 1 Apr 2024

Hi Everyone

I appreciate there have been several appeals for sponsorship over the last month and all for worthy causes. However, Mrs Superhoop is running the 2024 London Marathon this year. She received a ballot place and heard she had been successful on the day her Mum was diagnosed with cancer. Her Mum passed away a few months later and she has decided to split her charity efforts between the local cancer hospice that cared for her Mum in the last few weeks and also a Cat rescue that her Mum and us have supported for several years.

I know times are tough but if you do find any coins down the back of the sofa you could spare, she would be most grateful. Some of you may know her from the happy band of QPR runners as she too is a hoops supporter. Thank you for reading and if nothing else, feel free to read her story and how the training is going on the link.

P.S Clive if you could pin this for a bit as discussed, I would be most grateful. TIA.

Hilarious - that said since discovered it was a private coach nothing to do with Leeds - so epic fail on his part

Food for Thought

That's 7 points from a possible 9. That's pretty solid going and surely a sign that MC is getting this side turning the corner

And to add to his CV the first QPR manager since 1999 to beat Blackburn at Ewood Park

Footie Documentary

Downloaded a good football documentary today on Sky documentaries and its on at 9pm tonight, well worth a watch.

Called Stasi FC and features a team in East Germany prior to the wall coming down. As long as you dont mind subtitles its very good

Oh and no immature schoolboy sniggering at the Dresden Strikers name

Chris Martin
at 09:10 23 Apr 2023

I think he deserves a positive thread - When he signed the negativity on this forum was unbelievable yet yesterday he may have scored the most important goal for us this season

Was he the best choice as signing? Probably not but he was free and when Dykes was in hospital he came here to help.

And no one can say he hasn't tried his best throughout and for me may just have got us out of this black hole we were slipping towards - aka League One

So, Well done Chris Martin and thank you

I hold the record - Boro Match Thread
at 09:30 17 Feb 2023

So I hold the current record. The last time I started a match thread, we won against Preston in what feels like last year... Oh wait, it was - The 17th December and the last time we recorded a victory

So, exactly 2 months later, I have decided to start a match thread in the hope that this will turn the fortunes around.

I am going to go for another 0-1 away win. And why the optimism? Well a) eventually we have to win and b) Boro may feel like we are ripe for the taking (which we are) and be more relaxed about the whole match

Wishful thinking, but anyway - Lets see

Recently, a thread was started as to why someone had not got involved in an incident, I think it was a theft.

Well here is a good example of why NOT to get involved these days. This world is mad at times and there are many feral kids out there
