| My kid’s first game at QPR on 16:18 - Jan 26 with 708 views | RBlock | How old is she? I took my boy to his first game at about 14 months and he was fine. It was a 12:00 game so not masses in the way of atmosphere. Didn't bother with the whole sensory room side of it, just plonked him in the R Block, but I can appreciate that's probably because he was very young at the time. I had a lot of family round me so I could easily pass him around from his Uncle to his Grandad to his Mum, to keep him entertained. Warm weather and snacks helped as well. | | | |

| My kid’s first game at QPR on 09:57 - Jan 27 with 482 views | PBLOCK | I only have a very limited experience of the Sensory room my lad found it on maybe his 2nd visit about 3 years ago There were activities and I think a games console of some sort. It’s based under the stairs from the lower loft to the upper loft My eldest who has autism may have found it useful if she went but she has zero interest in football and has never been. My boy doesn’t have any SEN requirements so when he’s been probably 10 times or so we’ve never used it. He did cry when we scored as the noise was too loud but 30 seconds later he was fine and absolutely loves going. If you’re daughter has additional needs it might be worth investigating but if she doesn’t I’d perhaps not bother as it doesn’t have a view of the pitch so means you are essentially watching it on the TV in there You don’t say how old your daughter is? I think when taking your kid to their first game I’d say to anyone plan it Personally I’d leave it a couple of months until the weather is a bit better sitting in a freezing stadium for the first time might not have them rushing back. The fan zone on South Africa road is good for kids they have a few activities and often youth players, injured / suspended 1st trainers go over for a chat and photo. Take plenty of snacks and stuff to keep them entertained as sitting for 90 minutes is a long time for a lot of kids If you’re worried about the noise some ear defenders might be worth a shout Good luck with it | | | |

| My kid’s first game at QPR on 13:28 - Jan 27 with 298 views | QPunkR | Hello mate, I took my lad to his first ever game earlier this season against Charlton. He's autistic and we made a bit of use of the sensory room - and honestly I have nothing but good things to say about the team. Contact from Chloe at the club was brilliant, she let me know everything we'd need to know beforehand about the visit. She even made sure to have some sensory toys for my lad - a pack which also includes earphones for the noise, which came in useful. I have to say the Club make the most of a very small space and there are a variety of board/other games as well as 2 consoles, which of course were the main attention of a fair amount of the kids in there pre-match. Before the game I think it's just a kids' room, with all kids allowed to come in, but Chloe explained that when the game starts they turn down the lights and have the game on the telly on a low volume. I said I wanted to try my boy on the atmosphere in the stands at LR (family stand, obvs) and she said no problem, if it got too much then we can come back at any point during the match. In the event, my son loved it (helps when you're running three goals through Charlton!) so we didn't go back - but I'm sure it would have been great. Before you go I think you need to notify the Club, so either email them or if you want Chloe's direct details I'm sure she wouldn't mind me sharing them with you. Just DM me if so. Oh and Chef - the sensory room is Lower Loft, to the left of the staircase. | |
