Andy Burnham is probably the only person who could have led Labour to victory at the next election and Starmer stopped him from becoming an MP.
Starmer is dull and comes across as a bit of a drip, but I don't think he's corrupt. He just isn't cut out to withstand the inevitable onslaught from the right-wing media.
The same people who voted for Brexit are voting for Reform now: just about the final nail in the coffin of this once great country. The end of the NHS, state pensions etc. and a decline into poverty. Government corruption will be off the charts. [Post edited 11 May 11:20]

I don't disagree with you. The Metro has certainly balanced things in London.
I dislike Corbyn as much as I dislike Farage. I don't like extremists. They always damage countries. My point was that the right-wing media wage a relentless campaign against any Labour leader and Starmer hasn't been able to stand up to it. Andy Burnham might, if he gets the chance. He's a bit more charismatic and media-savvy.
Being PM is a bit like being England football manager. You're under constant scrutiny and If you have any weakness, the media will find it and take you down. Of course, results count too and we haven't had positive results from any PM in this country for a very long time. [Post edited 12 May 0:55]

There may well be a campaign against Starmer, but I’d say Farage as well although there may not be a balance. A bit like the way the BBC (and some on here) refer to the fact that Tommy Robinson’s (who I have no time for btw) real name is Yaxley Lennon whereas they don’t do the same for Polanski…

OK, let's just concentrate on one thing, and THE most important thing, the economy.
In the aftermath of Covid and the Ukraine war Sunak just started to get our economy onto a more stable footing, achieving 2 quarterly growth figures of 0.6 and 0.7%
That equated to an annual growth rate of an incredible 2.6% growth.
Labour got in raised Nat insurance tax on businesses, increased employment costs, paid train drivers more on top of their huge wages etc etc and ..... the UKs growth drops to 1%.
Only Labour know how to cripple an economy. | |
