Ads for cheap aircons popping up on this site plus youtube and no doubt countless othere places.
The Beeb are featuring what a fiddle these things are.
You can't cool a room “in seconds” with what is no more then a plastic fan.
I bought a Pinguino - cost an arm and a leg but a life-saver in these temps.

Got a Toshiba a/c unit fitted last year in our main bedroom. £2,500 incl installation was a brilliant investment.
It can literally cool most of the top of my house, it’s quite and costs circa £0.50p a day to run.
