I've met Francesca O'Brien a few times through running and work.
She's ok. Very confident, but the epitome of a career politician. She once said those on benefits should "be put down" and cosied up to the far right racists "Voice of Wales" . I wouldn't say that makes her a good choice, but it probably makes her an ideal candidate.
It is now stated that Dan Thomas was bailed pending further investigation, if this is the case he's lied. Most political parties in these circumstances would suspend him. [Post edited 16 Sep 16:11]

The PM normally goes because the party is struggling in popularity, who would push for a change if they could lose parliamentary seats and even the majority. If a Politician really crosses the line whilst in Public Office and was elected as a to serve that area and then booted out on suspect charges then of course that AM/MP is history .

Obviously it would need an entire change to the election system so isn't going to happen, but a change in PM usually results in a change in priorities and probably different to what the party was elected on.
It also usually sees a cabinet re-shuffle, often adandoning plans that have bedn worked on for years before they're implemented wasting time and money.
The Bridgend MS defection is different, she was elected by vites for her party and not her personally (as it would be in a general election) she should stand down and be replaced by the next reform candidate on the list. | | | |

Burnham getting to PM was straight out of yes prime minister.
Not even an elected politician and gets to stand at a seat given up so he can edge his way back into politics. Thereafter the plan works, Starmer knows the full script and stands down. Burnham is elected as the boss.
