There is a really interesting piece in the Athletic on him for anyone who has a subscription. Talks about his incredible potential that had him up there with Bellingham and Musiala in the England youth teams and the challenges of trying to find his potential.

Didn’t Celtic get permission for him to play in their Under 18s when he was 13, or something? Imagine how diddy he was then.

He was 13 when he played for Celtic's Under-20's

I wondered what happened to him after Different Strokes.

Well I wonder if his injury record is linked to the fact he's played too much footy at such an age.

Poll: Who should do the Birmingham Frederick?

You would have to wonder, Kensal.

Either way, having a 13-yr old in the same team, and maybe dressing room as grown men is a terrible way to treat a footballer, and an incredibly risky thing to do to a child.

Hopefully he was changing in a separate room.

Otherwise Celtic would have left themselves open to some serious safeguarding questions!

Well, hopefully, as you say. I think someone on here pointed out recently that separate dressing rooms are now law?

Not sure if they were back then, but even if they were, and he did tog on and off on his own, having a 13-yr old in an adult team and environment can't be any good whatsoever for the person or the player.

Could not agree more, utter waste of space and money

Thanks for sharing the article.

Find it a bit depressing that - in response to a piece in which Dembele is insightful about experiences of racism, commodifcation of his talents at a really young age and effect of injuries - some responses seem to completely ignore this and focus on calling him rubbish (unfairly).
