...our own Ian Barrowclough of Sligo Rovers.

No wonder we don't win World Cups.

But you don't need an English manager to win a world cup.

Infact the last three England managers including the current one have all been awful and taken England years backwards.

Interesting point that - do people actually tend to get those international jobs when they are at the end of a career and coaching ideas are a bit out of date?

On another note whatever happened to the Roy Race style player manager?

You need a Blackie Gray as well.

don't agree with that if you are including Glenn Hoddle, he was one of the best England managers we've had imo, tried to get the team playing attacking passing football, brought in the likes of beckham, Ferdinand, Scholes, Owen etc when they were young and tried to develop a side. I think we'd have had far more success if he had stayed manager than we did under Sven. Before him venables was even better.

Problem now with English coaches is so few get a chance at clubs especially top clubs so they go into the England job very raw and lacking the experience. Once Hodgson goes and Redknapp retires the lack of options for the England job is scary.

We don't win World Cups because the players aren't and haven't been for years, good enough. Simple as.
