Late 70's can be included as well and at a push early 90's and "Music" can only be of the alternative rock, hard rock, indie rock, new wave, 2 tone, ska, mod revival, post punk, punk rock, psychedlic rock and neo psycedelia variety.
Absolutely no Pop allowed.
I'll start off with a song I heard very recently for the first time in ages and it reminded me of what a great song, anthem and pissed karaoke song it was/is.

I have to say I like a long epic too, every album should have at least one 8min+ song.
Even the Grindcore gods of Carcass have an epic finale on the new one.
Check out Manowar 'Achilles Agony And Ecstsy' 28 mins long

One of my 5 favourite albums of the last 25 years.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one’s lifetime. (Mark Twain)

Colin, much as an 18/9 yr old I enjoyed 'The Crossing', Steeltown is undoubtedly the better album. 'Where The Rose Is Sown' is THE definitive November 11th song of the modern era, well coupled with the heartfelt 'Come Back To Me' that follows. It's a shame that you are not on the Donnie coach as better 'Minds and L42 tunes are likely to be aired. (ie earlier ones.)
Someone put up 'Gun Law' by 'The Kane Gang'. Great song.
This thread has gone a bit 'pop!. If looking for a November 11th song have a listen to Little Boy Solders by The Jam, from the Setting Sons album.

@Metallica_Hoop 'That was Brilliant. Pre-1979 I assume.'
Definitely...I don't think the Ayatollahs liked psychedielia up 'em...
'Zendooni celebrates a time when Pop artists in Iran ruled the country. During the 70s, before the Revolution, Occidental and Middle East mannerisms collided and the result was a new kind of Iranian Pop which incorporated different genres and arrangements to its Persian roots. Touches of Funk, Jazz, Latin, Bossa, Progressive- Psychedelic sounds and Morricone / Blaxploitation styled soundtracks can be heard on this collection, culled from miraculously survived vinyls and cassettes' http://lightintheattic.net/releases/738-zendooni-funk-psychedelia-and-pop-from-t

Nice thanks for that. Going to put it in a FB old rock group as a surprise [winks]
Went to see an avant-gard play about the first revolution 1908 (I forget) at the riverside.
Was bloody odd, people hanging about on a climbing frame in uniform the popping out of Dustbins shouting "the Shah, the Shah"
Love this long time.

Saw them in Glasgow Barrowlands in, I guess, 1983.
Pretty mental gig. Lots of skinheads doing chicken dancing, rolling round in broken glass and bleeding profusely. And that was before KJ had even come on.
Intense.
Great choice Bluce.
Yes I saw KJ a few times. What's this For is a great album as well.

Mixture from Down Under
Great to see Cold Chisel live in Shepherds Bush a couple of years back. Still think they should have been better known.
It's a bit more recent - i.e. saw them this week at the Roundhouse but given their love of Bowie & Talking Heads maybe they can sneak in to the 80s thread ...
