'The Ramones' was the first punk album I ever heard. Still remember how mesmerised I was with the minimalist stereo production - bass and drums in one channel, guitar and vox in the other.

Tommy didn't write too many songs but he did write this one or at least the music for it - one of their best. Dee Dee wrote the lyrics and he was actually brought up in Germany - Berlin in fact, so sort of appropriate with the World Cup final tomorrow:

In my recurring nightmare where fire is about to engulf my vinyl collection, it's usually the first four Ramones albums I try to save.

RIP. Never into the Ramones, but most of their stuff was listenable. Sad that they have all gone.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience are indeed all gone and I'm sure all of the members of the 70's rock/pop band Badfinger are too. Most of them took their own lives. Grim.

Lots of bands with 50% or 75% of their members gone, most notably The Beatles and The Who.

There aint half been some clever bastards.
