Pitch size 15:04 - Aug 9 with 946 views | terryb | I do get fed up with reading on this site how small our pitch is! I read on the Chair thread that Scowen may not be suited as well to the small LR pitch as opposed to the spacious area of Stoke City. (Ok, I have exagerated the wording!). Well guess which palying area is the smallest in our league? No, it's not enormous, but it is bigger than five other Championship clubs in area & longer than eight other clubs Stadium Length (m) Width (m) Area (m2) The City Ground Nottingham Forest 105 71 7,455 Hillsborough Sheffield Wednesday 106 69 7,314 Riverside Stadium Middlesbrough FC 105 69 7,245 Ewood Park Blackburn Rovers 105 69 7,245 John Smiths Stadium Huddersfield Town 105 69 7,245 The Den Millwall 106 68 7,208 Liberty Stadium Swansea AFC 105 68 7,140 The Hawthorns West Bromwich 105 68 7,140 The KCOM Stadium Hull City AFC 105 68 7,140 Pride Park Derby County 105 68 7,140 Elland Road Leeds United 105 68 7,140 Madjeski Stadium Reading 105 68 7,140 Ashton Gate Bristol City 105 68 7,140 DW Stadium Wigan Athletic 105 68 7,140 Deepdale Preston North End 101 69 6,969 The Valley Charlton Athletic 102 67 6,834 Cardiff City Stadium Cardiff City / Wales 100 68 6,800 Oakwell Stadium Barnsley 100 68 6,800 Loftus Road Queens Park Rangers 102 66 6,732 Griffin Park Brentford 100 67 6,700 St Andrew’s Birmingham City 100 66 6,600 Craven Cottage Fulham 100 65 6,500 Kenilworth Road Luton Town 100 65 6,500 Bet365 Stadium Stoke City FC 100 64 6,400

Pitch size on 15:36 - Aug 9 with 838 views | Toast_R | It's not the size that matters it's what you do with it that counts. Can someone confirm this for me though... back in the late 80s early 90s, when you look at highlights reels of QPR at Loftus Road, did we have really thin goal posts or what? That FA quarter final v Liverpool and Butch hand stand volleys the opener which rattles in of the upright and crossbar - the goal frame warps and vibrates like it's made out of rubber . You don't see that nonsense these days.

They moved the goal line forward a few years back as literally no one in the away end upper could see it, they did the same at the loft end as well as we had to have certain sized nets that were the same as everyone else’s, Upton Park used to have goals like ours as well.

Pitch size on 15:57 - Aug 9 with 748 views | Match82 | I expect perception is a big part of it because of how close the stands are to the pitch

They come from footballstadiums. co.uk. I wouldn't know if they are accurate, but Stoke did have to increase the size of the playing area to play European Cup matches there a few seasons ago. They then reverted back to normal for league games. This was of course, in the Pullis era with the numerous long throws! I have to say that I wasn't convinced with so many clubs having the same area! However, our playing area is not much less than a lot of clubs.
