Unless someone comes along with shed loads of dosh to spunk on the club, its a lost cause.
They nead 2m per year min to pay wages 5m to show the EFL they are fit and proper 24m to repay this momey owed to the previous owner and lots of smaller 1m and less sums that all add up.
The ground needs decorating apparently, and they cannot afford that, there is no safety case for the ground, and simply put , today was their D-Day.
Cant see it happening, and added to that all sorts of shenanigans behind the scenes and breaking of confidential agreements, this week resulting in more than 1 thread being removed from various forums taking a close interest in things.
The Administrator is forecasting annual losses at £2-2.5M in total for the next two years - I think that is on a no-fans-back, no-promotion basis (so likely about right...).
The £5M is a bond the EFL may require so as to avoid another fly-by-night scoundrel taking over, so not really in addition to covering the losses.
The former-owner debts (£25M and £10M) have quite rightly been written off.
If you found you had £5M or so burning a hole, you could buy the whole club and assets, including the stadium (worth up to £80M, if you ask Derby) and possibly one of the training grounds.
That's local car-dealer-made-good rather than Qatari Crown Prince sort of money really (so just like the old days...).
There are apparently 4 serious bidders still in the running, as well as the fan crowdfunding initiative (I've stuck a few quid in as that's my local, when I can't get to Rangers) - fingers-crossed maybe not so bleak just yet perhaps.

It's a mess and a half.
Dave are you suggesting you cant afford it? I've seen your Saturday nights...
It's a huge shame, but there's so much going on a moderatley small (tiny fan base really) that never really developed despite it's success in the Premier, and indeed the FA Cup win (of course I'd love us to have had some of that.
But in the current era it's hard to see anyone really wanting the club unless Whelan decides to wade in (not very likely) or some other fan with very deep pockets.
Not sure how there overall set up is, but they have the ground but generally despite good will bodies and things do seem in short supply up there, the fact is Wigan Warriors are the big noise in Wigan, and I guess other clubs swallow alot of other potential support.
I do of course wish them all the best (playing us apart obviously) and hope things can be resolved and an owner who's good for them can be found.
