Believe it or not, a season or two ago, a club sent a similar picture to us 3 officials on the morning of the game and said

"I think we should call this one off, what do you think?"

Many years ago I travelled up North to watch the R's and the game got called off as were past Nottingham so we headed to Mansfield as their game with Brentford was still on. Sat in the stand as the rain tipped down and 2 moments were, a corner that had to be taken off the pitch as an attempt to take it from the quadrant resulted in the ball lifting a funnel of water up when kicked and returning to the place where it was taken and a kick from the goalkeeper stopping dead in a puddle just outside the centre circle. The game was allowed to be played to a finish surprisingly.

The grass is always greener.
