My goodness that was impressive. Completely blew this summer's Platinum Jubilee party out of the water. That was amazing. Everything good about Birmingham celebrated in 2 hours. Amazing.

I was there last night, going into it I felt sad as its been a wonderful fortnight of sport but it was a lot of fun last night. Until the speeches anyway then its a bit of boring waffle. Great surprise appearance from Ozzy at the end and he actually sounded good.

Me & Mrs Slm were lucky enough to be at the Opening Ceremony, attend 11 sporting events, then see the games out last night. Unlikely to get an opportunity like that again so made the most of it and loved every minute of it.

Great to have an event like that within 45 minutes of where we live, unlikely to happen again.

Agreed, we had a brilliant few days up there, the place was properly buzzing. The athletics was great, atmosphere for the T53/54 final was a real highlight. Boxing was really good and had a far better atmosphere than a lot of big professional cards I've been at. Then we stopped in Warwick on our way back on Sunday and caught a bit of the cycling road race, then decided, as it was so nice, to grab a picnic and spend the rest of the day in Stratford Upon Avon. Great weekend, London 2012 vibes, Britain does these things so well.

Edit - Another thing that I found awesome was just how many athletes we saw out and about - At events, in the town center, on the shuttle busses, at the festival sites.....Nothing big time about them, just glad to be there and enjoying themselves.
