Decompressing nicely after a couple of big gins and some Duvels…

They were helped by their early goals which allowed them to sit behind the ball and harass our passing, but still, how many times in the game did they play it back to the centre backs or to the goalkeeper? When they attacked, it was about turning and going at us, not shuffling it from to the wing, then back to the other side via our own penalty area.

Our big absence is Johansen, who is willing to carry the ball up rather than shuffle it backwards. It seems that open season has been declared on Dozzell, but in his absence, we could notice that without Johansen he at least sometimes gets the ball going forward at an angle of more than 20 degrees.

Not sure if official statistics exist, but wouldn’t be surprised if we are the least innocuous team from set pieces. Another area where they were miles ahead of us.

Agree, no-one seemed tasked with dropping in and picking up the ball from the Centre Backs, our corners were just driven over, no-one outside Dykes was attacking the box in the 2nd Half,

We just seemed lost between Managers, formations and ways of playing at the moment and need to sort quickly.

I would go back to 3 at the back, task Dickie and CS with driving with the ball, push Laird and Paal with supporting Willock and Chair, basically go back to Warburton's plan as with the Full-Backs and CS we have better players now for this formation.

I thought the switch to a back 3 would have happened after Burnley and does allow us to play 2 up front and mix our game up a bit. Major problem yesterday was basically playing a 4-4-1-1 so what was needed was bodies around Dykes but Field had to sit and Tim was the one moving the ball wide for crosses so he then had no chance to get in the box in time to get on the end of everything. Roberts should have been the one in the box but seemed to have an allergy top the penalty area

Trouble with playing three at the back is that two of our four main CBs seem to always be unavailable.

While usually a big fan of Chair, I thought that after a bright start where he looked to get forward quickly, he then started to revert to the player that tries to do everything and slowed the game down. Second half while a lot of the play was down the right, I thought he could at least have been looking to get in the box to support Dykes - but seemed to stay very wide out on the left irrespective of what was happening

Chair was ill by the sound of it which is why he went off. He did start really well but as you say went back to trying to do it all himself in the first half and that didn't help

Good to know, thanks. I did notice that we overloaded the right with Shodipo and Roberts a lot of the game. Usually a lot down the left with Willock and Chair.

And if anyone is the bloke behind me in SAR, can we not get on Shodipo and Roberts’ back before they’ve actually kicked a ball
