Would you? 10:53 - Jan 4 with 2465 views | DubaiR | So that lot apparently want Dykes, we are offering a new contract, are we finally being smart to force their hand and drive up his value? I like Dykes but if they offered a couple of million and Roofe would you take it? I think I would. Roofe a decent striker at this level and if gossip is to be believed we bring in Surridge from Forest who would be an upgrade on Dykes. Slow morning in the office;)

He's not a natural striker though and is never going to make the anticipatory runs into position that a Charlie Austin would. If you play him up on his own, the midfielders have to be there to receive his knock-ons, not half a mile back down the pitch. We have needed a 'fox in the box' type for years - maybe Kelman will be that? I wouldn't sell him unless we got silly money as I reckon Critchley will know how to utilise him. Not sure about Roofe at his age - he was on the bench the other day in the Farmers' League.

Shhhh. I said that about Beale going there and look what happened! I'd keep Dykes. As others have said it is more about finding a poacher or more natural goal scorer to play alongside him, AKA Austin and Zamora.

Would you? on 11:58 - Jan 4 with 2193 views | swisscottage | Do we need another thread on Dykes?... this has affectively been commented on in the 15 pages of the existing one. That being said, My tuppence worth is that we should keep him, extend his contract, and get behind him. Whilst he's not a natural goalscorer, on his day he completely dominates the opposition defenses, and if the three behind him supported him better we'd see a lot more of the monster we saw on Monday, and we'd generate a lot more goalscoring opportunities, and he'd be worth a lot more than 2 mil.

Beale himself said (it's on another thread I think) that he has no interest in any of our players. Though his word is not exactly his bond.

Roofe has hardly been fit in his time at Ibrox so would be very wary from that point of view alone

If we can’t afford to buy a striker to play alongside Dykes I would consider any bids of £3-4m for him. He is not of much use to us if he cannot score and the likes of Willock Chair Roberts and midfielders don’t get up from with him to deal with knock pms and space he creates. From what I have seen so far under Critchley this isn’t happening.
