St Alec's Day 21:59 - Mar 4 with 388 viewsMajorShotKneesHoop

The whole family went to Wembley on St Alec's Day - plus a few close converted mates.

Even Auntie Vi, who pulled the wrong plug out (the TV one) when she was ironing at our house on the night that the St Andrews semi final was being played - and all we heard on the 10.00 news was Birmingham 1 QPR - ........ blank screen. Severe abuse ....

After the abuse she got for that, we had to get her a ticket to Wembley for the final.

What a day.

Memorable didn't come into it, a fairy story, jumpers for goal posts, hearses with QPR flags,Rodney, Rodney belted out from the west end of Wembley Stadium.

What feats Rodney did that day.

As Shakespeare once quoth:-

" Let lose the dogs of war, stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood, exchanges fair nature with hard favoured rage.

"Then shall their names,
Familiar in our mouths, as household words—
Mark Lazarus, The Morgan Twins, Bow Legged Jimmy Langley, Ronnie Hunt, Unsung Sanderson, Mike Keen the King of the R's.
Were in their flowing league cups freshly rememb'red.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be rememberèd—
We few, we happy few, we band of R's brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in West London now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here at Wembley on 4th March 1967,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Alec's day.

West Brom 2 - QPR 3 - Beam me back Scotty.
